The wife just informed me that her entire family is coming to town for Turkey Dayz and will be staying with us.... best part is she also informed me that I am only required to attend the big meal and after that I'm free to roam....
So....
Anyone got a Turkey Dayz trip planned and want some company from an old smartass? Or anyone interested in putting together a trip? I'm thinking Moab would be nice this time of year and I have beta on a couple of new routes I'm just itching to descended.

What about BYU-Utah? Those are my only plans... Unfortunately, it is on Saturday, so it kind of messes up the rest of the days.

What... you want to stick around and watch BYU take a beating? :lol8:
If we do Moab I would be all for doing lunch at a local bar and watching the game in town.
:2thumbs:
How easily we forget.... I'm the guy who has no problemooo sleeping in real beds and eating real food.... screw that camping crap. :haha:

plan on going down halls creek to explore a few days, w-m.
but if you'd be interested in exploring more around high spur (that slot n of windy point spring draining into lower hs) or an uncertain/unexplored access to swett creeks hanging slot just to see if its worth the effort, i'd change plans for the company (and help hauling the gear !)
Have a group of 4 that will be doing Little Segers Hole/Segers Window on Thurs, Segers Hole/Squeeze on Friday, Cable on Sat and Eardley on Sunday. Camping at Hidden Splendor Wed, Thurs; Horse Heaven on Fri and Sat. Have room for up to 2 more.
Take care,
A.J.

I'd miss most any game for good outdoors fun. But not Utah AT BYU. I haven't seen BYU win in LES for awhile now, you know. I was at last years game, but it sure would be nice to get one in Provo...

I'm in SLC from Thursday till Sunday. As stupid as it sounds, I would be down for hitting a slot mid-week AFTER the Thanksgiving weekend (26th-30th).
I am game, unless my wife says otherwise
What days are you thinking, Shane?

Here is what I'm thinking..... I have some beta on what is supposed to be a really good route in Moab. I'd like to do it on Friday (drive down Thursday afternoon or evening). The down side to the route is it requires a shuttle with HCV's. I can supply one of the vehicles. We will need an early start because the route should take most of the day and daylight is at a premium this time of year.
After that I really don't care, stay in Moab an do more or drive home.... it's all good... I really would like to see the Utah/BYU game Saturday afternoon.

Although I was not on the prefered list (I'm OK with that) it would be fun to go out with you again.....but, turkey day, black Friday (kid duty while wife "saves" money), then the football game on Saturday hoses me. I've never done anything around Moab. That is the one area of the state that is not on the resume yet. I am itching to get there.

Shane, my plans are looking a bit grim for the Turkey weekend, I will let you know for sure by this weekend.

I can get Adam to come, he has a 4x4 truck that we can trash :haha:

Actually I've driven the road before and it's not hard core 4x4. It's just a dirt road with a couple of rough spots.

Rock, are you in? Thinking I'd like to keep the group to about 6ish.... at least for the Saturday deal.
Thinking drive down Friday after work..... camp or motel? planning on eating all meals in town. Probablt a motel Saturday night, rooms are cheap this time of year.
comments?
:cool2:
Rock, spell RUN three times? :lol8:
Shane, sounds good. Motel is fine with me, Adam wouldn't care either way. I checked prices for this weekend and Motel 6 was $47 bucks.
What do you want to do Sunday?
What rope would we need? I now how that 200ftx8mm rope.
Who is driving 4wd vehicles?

I am IN. Very early on I told Mike (Kyrell) about it, and he wants in too. Hope I didn't overstep my bounds. If 7 is too many, then he and I will follow from a distance. :roflol:

Looks like we got a team :2thumbs:
We need at least two HCV's. I believe everyone but Rock lives in the SLC area. We can car pool down, probably need to take two cars.
I believe Alex and Adam are going down with me (or I with them) and we should have one HCV. Looks like Alex, Adam and I will be staying at a motel. I'll let the rest of you SLC guys try to work out the ride details on your own. If someone doesn't have a car pool ride let me know and We'll see what we can work out.
I'd like to leave the SLC area about 5 or 6 ish on Friday night. Stop at Groggs or Ray's on the way down for dinner (depending on what time we get out of town).
Sunday is wide open... we can actually decide that after Saturday's adventure. Lots of stuff to do in Moab. We'll need two 200' ropes... so ya... Alex you can bring your new rope. I'll have my gear bag with me.

Here is the plan....
How about we meet at 7:30 Saturday morning at the little park just north of Moab and just before you cross the Colorado River (interesection of highway 191 & highway 128).
Don't bitch about the early start time. I'm a little bit concerned about the short days. I hear the route takes a full 8 hours. We will need two 200' ropes.
Don't be late! If you can't make it make sure you let us know so we don't wait.
That cool?
Note to Alex: When you get the implants make sure you ask for the brass ones. :haha:

Kyrell's status is looking a little shaky. He's feeling under the weather. Speaking of weather, have you seen the weather report for this weekend? Looks wet.
rockgremlin
11-29-2007, 07:36 AM
Your weekend weather report for Moab:
Friday night - 50% chance of rain
Saturday - 70% chance of rain mixing with snow after 11:00am
Sunday - 10% chance of rain, partly cloudy
The longer canyon might look better for Sunday...

Apparently Kyrell has the black lung so he is out. If we do this post Christmas, Alex and Kyrell would be able to join us. I'm down for whatever, but it does kinda suck to hike in these less-than-favorable conditions...
