I cant believe how fast they were hauling ass though. I would be going all slow with my jaw dragging on the floor, hehe.

this is a newb question - but why is there flames coming out of the headlamps? i have never heard of doing that before. anyone care to explain?

I'm not a caver per se but I have looked through my share of climbing catalogs. The flame acts as a light. Easy to refill the fuel and you don't have to carry heavy batteries. The bigger the flame the more light you have, or mabey theirs is broken. They also can help with knowing if there is enough oxygen, I may be wrong on the last thing though.

They are using carbide lamps, the cavers standby, first used by miners due to long burning, good quality of light, and in some cases, warmth. Plenty of the alpine caves in France are in the 30's for temps, and wet, thus the rubber suits also seen in the videos. LED's are the thing now in lights, but the carbide/halogen/LED is still in vogue.
