Looks like one of Shanes favorites also seems to be Backpackers favorite as well.

Looks like the guy in Buckskin is trying hard to make it as difficult as possible!

Or maybe that's Bo, with a few "training weights" thrown in.

Hmmm.... that would be a great hike about now.

And I certainly agree it's one of the best hikes on the planet.

:2thumbs:

I'm going to have to give more thought to Big Tujunga Narrows next time I'm in SoCal. I didn't know it was supposed to be super good. I just figured it was something the locals did until they could visit Southern Utah again..... guess that's my Utah bias showing through...

Wet Beaver has been on my hit list for about 10 years...

Buckskin was not my favorite at all, but it was okay?

For easy canyons..... for me...

You guys did Buckskin at the wrong time of year..... deep sand in summer heat..... I think I mentioned that little item would take much of the fun out of the hike before you did the hike

Also... Buckskin is NOT and easy hike. It's a long all day type of adventure that involves something like 20 miles of hiking.

If I was doing best EASY hikes then Little Wild Horse would be near the top of the list.

I think Buckskin is a very beautiful hike. The first time I hiked it in around 1992, I went with just a daypack. It was quite enjoyable. Last time I did it (this year) I had far too much gear to really enjoy myself. Some day I would like to hike through Buckskin and end up at Lees Ferry. I will certainly give consideration to what I carry, or I will use the extra gear I do tote, i.e tent, sleeping bag and make a couple days out of it!

I would recommend this hike to anyone...I think Backpacker made a good choice with the inclusion.

Agreed! I really enjoyed it, though I think I had about 1/3 again as much as the guy in the photo. 4 days, with temps below freezing overnight, so I was... laden. And though I did very much enjoy the Buckskin part itself, I just considered that a part of the whole - the trip to Lees Ferry. Kind of a gestalt thing...
