Abby, Mitchell and I are heading to Utah for about four days next week. It looks like we'll stay in Moab or Green River. We are bringing our Chihuahuas, Max and Sierra, and would like some advice on where we might take them hiking. Last year they went with us to Butler Wash, and they seemed to have a great time - we certainly enjoyed having them along. We know that the Park Service does not permit pets on the majority of their trails, but where would we find trails for our dogs? We are looking at hikes of about one to two miles, since they are small animals and can't hike huge distances.

Corona Arch is a great Moab hike that dogs can do.

Around Moab, Fisher Towers (http://utahfilmbank.com/Fisher_Towers.html) might fit the bill. The entire round-trip hike is 4.4 miles, but you don't have to go all the way to the end of the trail to see some awesome formations. Here's a PDF (http://www.discovermoab.com/pdf/fishertowers.pdf) with good info on how to get there.

If you end up staying in Green River, there are some good short hikes along the San Rafael Reef north of I-70. Tom has some good info on his site here (http://canyoneeringusa.com/utah/swell/box1.htm).

I've had my eye on Fisher Towers for years. What a cool idea. I'll run it past the Mrs.

Does anyone want us to look you up while we're out there? Email us if so. We'd love to have dinner with whoever wants. We're leaving Oklahoma Wednesday, and will be in Moab Thursday, Friday, and Saturday-ish.

Also, how about these trails on BLM land in the Moab area...

-Jackson's Trail
-Hunter's Canyon Trail
-Morning Glory Bridge

Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.
