the old "beyond utah" thread
the following was during a time when folks saw this forum as strictly utah-based and this thread was to allow folks to show their photos from elsewhere ... but now that bogley is more universal i've renamed the thread to wonders of the world ... so please ... feel free to blow our minds
:eek2: :eek2: :eek2:
i know most find it hard to believe that there is anything really outside of utah (har har) but,
given that this is a utah forum, it makes sense that there should be a thread of photos outside of utah.
why?
well, it seems to me that there are many talented photographers who spend their time here on this board,
and they photograph other places too. so, a thread to express themselves beyond utah ...

it just started, but don't know how much longer spring is gona las so heres a coupel to prove it's here. there is really a lot of blooming going on. it is not evident by casual observation, the slopes aren't blankets of color, but once you get personal w/ the landscape you see blooming flowers in abundance. everywhere. especially the little yellow pansies or whatever, they are THICK. really cool.

sweet shot, dan! :2thumbs:
great that you had a clear view too, since it's often enshrouded with clouds.
i remember the first time i saw it was during sunset and the sky was smoky. the mountain was dark bluish gray and the sky was a deep blood red. 'twas quite intense and forever burnt in my mind.
looking forward to more of your photos, lucky dawg, you :2thumbs:

Dan,
Consider yourself lucky to have gotten such a beautiful photo of "Denali"! She's only "out" maybe 30 or so days out of the entire year due to the weather patters the mountain creates.
The entire time I was in AK, I only caught a glimpse of her, and it wasn't during the time I spent in the Park. It was from atop a parking structure in downtown Anchorage - some 300 miles away!
You have an admirer in me - I enjoy your photos. You have that eye, that's for certain.
Thanks for sharing! :2thumbs:

Good shot, Dan. In the 4 days I was around Denali, we had a clear view 3 times. Unfortunately, it was socked in while we were at Wonder Lake (no reflection) and the day we were flying over it (flew around it, no good views of it).

Thanks. I couldnt believe the dumb luck of finding a population sign that actually said one with the sun to my back and that lone shack in the background. It was almost too perfect, I saw the compostion in the sideview mirror as we blazed past, hit the brakes at 75ish spun around and got about 3 shots. My battery had died back in the black hills and it managed to get a slight ghost charge on it for me to click it on and snap off a few.
Shot with the D70s and 50mm f1.8 prime lens.
