I'm looking for a good GPS for my bike. I have been looking at the handlebar mounted Garmin Edge 205, and 305. Can anybody tell me about their experiences with this brand? What other quality options are out there?

I have the edge 305 and it has been the best purchase I have ever made in regards to a cycling computer. I subscribe to Motionbased (motionbased.com) and always review and upload trails etc. I have had no problems and I have had the unit for 2 years. Here is a link to some of my rides I have done lately.

You cannot go wrong with the purchase and I use it all year long. Let me know if you have any questions. Oh yeah, I purchased my garmin on a random website that I found out from the forums on the garmin page.

Can you upload tracks from the internet or your computer onto the Edge 305 and follow the waypoints?

I purchased the Garmin 60CSX model. I don't think it would mount very well on the handlebars. I just put mine in my Camelbak.

You can upload a gpx file and follow the track file and the waypoints.

Yes you can, you can also go to the trail network and upload trails and then it will make them a virtual partner where you can actually race against there times etc, or jus tuse there course to follow.
