I think that around UUtah.com we all try to act like were smarter than the Katrina victims. Are we?

Tonight I made a 72 hour kit with enough to keep nearly any fool alive until the helicopters and the gov't. checks come to save the day.

I'll bring this to your house in the SL County. Outside of there, we'll have to see. The first one goes at my cost of $185. If more than one person wants one, I'll start making them for $200.

This isn't a for-prophet or for-profit business. The extra $15 will cover my gas and time. It's so we can all be prepared and post on UUtah.com after the apocalyptic earthquake/flood/locust infestation.

Here's what you get all in it's own 36 gallon tub:

Water
6 gallons of bottled (jugged) water

Food
24-pack Nature Valley Granola Bars
Family size box of Wheat Thins
2 big cans of baked beans
2 cans of Nalley's Chili
2 Cans of Spaghettios
4 packages of Ramen noodles
1 jar of peanut butter
1 can refried beans
6 cans Tuna
2 cans Evaporated Milk
Pink Lemonade mix
Salt and Pepper

Candy
1 big bag of starbursts
1 big bag of Smarties
1 big bag of Twizzlers lic. bites
1 box spiderman fruit snacks

Eating Utensils
4 plastic bowls with lids
1 can opener
1 bottle opener
48 pkg plastic utensils

Hygiene
Soap
Shampoo
3 pkgs wet wipes
1 roll paper towels
3 washcloths
2 toothbrushes
toothpaste

Emergency Supplies
2 AA size flashlights
1 D size flashlight
1 Emergency Candle (60 hour burn time)
1 Full size first aid Kit
2 plastic rain ponchos
1 pair Leather Gloves
1 Fleece blanket
6 pack hand warmers
1 roll duck tape
1 package zip ties
4 pens
1 permanent marker
1 Notepad
1 Winchester brand multi-tool
1 package extra batteries (AA)
1 Car-size fire extinguisher
1 four-function whistle (whistle, magnifier, compass, something else)
1 package pepto bismuth (equate brand)
1 package water purification tablets w/ neutralizer

I haven't added, but will before delivery:
Waterproof Matches
Emergency blankets
Rope/acc. cord
Trail Mix (They didn't have the kind I like)

You'll want to add:
Cash
Personal Medications
Small battery powered Radio (I couldn't find one I liked at walmart, but I'll keep looking for us. Might raise the price $10 if I have to add it.)
Some old clothes
Emergency contact information
Extra ammunition for your sidarm
ahem . . . feminine products if needed

Just to note, there's a really nice multi tool in this. It's all self contained, and without the water, not too heavy. It's a damn fine idea to be prepared. Remember to rotate the food every 6 months if disaster doesn't strike by then.

I was waiting for someone to pull together a kit like this so that my lazy ass didn't have to! :haha:

Seriously though, it's a damn fine idea. Waiting for the pics....

Note that the flashlights, FA kit, and fire extinguisher are on top. Wet wipes are up there as well.

If you de-package some of the food and other items, you'll have even more room in here for clothes. I might even ditch one of the jugs of water, though I'm not recommending it.
