Has anyone used a scuddle-butt? I was wondering if it would be worth the money to purchase one. I hate to buy gear ill never use.

Depends on the types of canyons you do. If you do alot of downclimbing in slotty stuff, then yeah, they're nice. You spend alot of time on your butt, wearing out your pants or wetsuit?

The Scuttle Butt is also designed to save wear and tear on your harness. The Scuttle Butt can be continually patched/repaired with duct tape, so it will last a long time.

If you will be on your BUTT, it's a good thing to have. However, I found it extremely uncomfortable on an X canyon as there are two buckles in the back that get jammed into your back when you are doing a lot of stemming. Thus, depends completely on the canyon. I have one I like to use on a select group of canyons. The other system I use is to wear a harness that has an attach point on top, rather than a belay loop; and then wear a pair of shorts over my pants and harness. The $6 Walmart shorts take the abuse, and protect my gear, etc. Also much more comfortable when stemming, etc.

Although, your mileage may vary.

Well I didnt expect that. But I am always up for free gear. To show my appreciation I will buy some Imlay gear later this year. Need a new pack and some misc items like a happy hooker and a rope bag or two. Thanks again! :mrgreen:
