BRYCE CANYON RIM RUN
The 23rd annual Bryce Canyon Rim Run and Walk will be held on Aug. 25.
Starting time will be 9 a.m. at Ruby's Inn, located just outside Bryce Canyon National Park. The race is the first event to be held in Bryce Canyon City, Utah's newest town.
The 5-mile trail run and walk is one of Utah's most scenic races. It winds through meadows, forests and along the rim of Bryce Canyon.
"Every year we have participants that stop at the canyon's rim and pull out cameras," said Jean Seiler, director of marketing at Ruby's Inn.
The race has age categories for walkers as well as runners.
"We basically have two races going on at the same time," Seiler said, "the running race and the walking event. Some walkers are serious, but a lot of them just want to enjoy the scenery."
High school cross-country teams are encouraged to compete.
Rim Run registration is $20 if postmarked by Aug. 18, and $25 afterward. Participants may register at Ruby's Inn the evening before the race from 6 to 8 p.m., or from 7 to 8:30 a.m. on race day. An entry form may be downloaded at www.rubysinn.com/run.html. Online registration is available at www.runnercard.com.
The entry fee includes a Rim Run T-shirt, post-race lunch, entertainment, awards, random prizes and a ticket for free admission to the Bryce Canyon Country Rodeo.
