Mountain Biking (http://www.uutah.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=74866) 6:00 pm - crashes and passes out.

I wheelied over (damn clip in pedals). My seat got totally jacked and my left wrist was in pain. I shook it off and kept riding for about a mile. Then I stopped to wait for everyone. Once they got there, we commenced with a 10 minute social session. I started feeling dizzy, like when you get up too fast in the morning to pee. Next thing I know, they are picking me up off the ground after a 10 second power nap. I was munching on some sagebrush for a minute.

When I woke up, I felt like shit and was white as a ghost. After about 20 minutes, caburt rode back to the trailhead with me to wait for the others to finish the trail. My hand was still hurting this morning, I tried to pull the clutch in on my motorcycle, no dice! DAMN! So I hopped in the truck. Around lunch time I headed to the go-ride bike shop to drop my bike off. New seat needed and I had also been in need of some new fork seals for some time. I couldn't even open the door with my left arm. So I thought I better go have an x-ray. I ended up with a broken wrist or "distal radius fracture." (http://www.davidlnelson.md/distalradius.htm) My orthopedic specialist will have to determine if its an "intra" or "extra-articular" fracture. I have a temporary full length cast and I will get a permanent one from the ortho dood soon. I'll have to wear it for around 6 WEEKS! :frustrated:

Of course spam-master/voyeur Sombeech had his camera:

You rode your tail off for a mile after the sweet wheelie :haha: , I couldn't keep up. Maybe it was adrenaline?

6 weeks sounds so old fashined. With modern medicine they should be able to pull off a 2-3 week healing! :2thumbs:

Good luck there acca, If you need anything let me know. I can send ride-on to mow your lawn :five:

Note to self; Dont' be like Accadacca and do lots of strenuous activity and only eat a salad all day at lunch. :nono:

Sorry to hear your wrist is broken. That's no fun. At least you can say you broke it doing something cool like biking. Last time I broke a bone, it's cuz some doofus dropped a big rock on my finger. :bash:

That sucks Acca. Being out for six weeks anytime of year is horrible. I see a FrogPad (http://store.frogpad.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FrogStore&Product_Code=BLMAC1500L&Category_Code=ALL) in your future.

I missed a lot of mountain biking last spring because of the same thing. I was out of commission for six weeks. One week in a splint, three weeks in a cast, two weeks in a brace. I got the brace off and the doc said, "You can go biking now if you take it easy." I went right out and rode Bonneville Shoreline between The U and City Creek.

Best wishes on a quick recovery. At least you didn't tear up a bunch of connective tissue.

Affirmative moo. :lol8:

I saw the doc today. He said it was a pretty good break. The good news is that everything stayed in alignment, so no surgery needed, he said 5 weeks. :ne_nau:  After 4 they will x-ray again, if things look ok, he'll give me a brace. This dood used to have a gold wing motorcycle, so we talked bikes for a bit. He said he would cast it based on riding position. So he had me act like I was riding and he skipped taping my thumb. :cool2: My hand is already feeling better and he said it should be feeling much better by next week. Perhaps I will be able to get the beemer out again on Monday? Tuesday mtn bike ride next week? Shaawing! :five:
