Powdered beer

This is a question that came up last with a couple of different opinions. Just looking for yours to settle a bet.
The topic is powdered beer for backpacking
If there was a powder out there let's say had some ingredients that also gave it some carbonation would you use it if it tasted something like let's say Natural light ? Understanding that it wouldn't be a great beer but at 11,000 feet and you have been hiking most of the day would you buy a product that was basically dehydrated beer ? One side of the table said no frigging way, packers are aficionados of beer and wouldn't stoop that low. The other side said bull shit , if my choice is crystal light or beer I am going with the beer.

Disagree. The farther you are from the car, the better stuff tastes, I think the biggest beer snobs out there would drink a warm Natural Light if they're 100 miles from the car, and like it. It's like organic vegans being willing to eat my Skippy and Smuckers on Wonder bread, as long as we're far enough from the car.

I also am on the lookout for dried rum, whiskey, and brandy or cognac, so let me know if you run across any of those. :2thumbs:

My hot young stripper wife packs Tequila and mixes it with powered lime Gatorade.... she calls it a margarita.... 20 miles from the car in the middle of the wilderness I just smile and get in line to have my cup filled.

Tequila and mixes it with powered lime Gatorade sounds good as well. BTW Ice, you posted pictures a month or two back, and in one was a $150 bottle of Tequila, the bottle looked like a glow worm... what liquor store carries that?

I can just see the problems "brewing" from it, though; There's always some crackhead that would start the trend of snorting it. :haha:

Not much into beer, but I think the main prob would be the carbonation. It would just taste to flat I think to really be any good. Stick with Ice's or mtnmman's ideas, those are much more appealing. To me anyways.

The $150 Tequila was not mine so I don't know where it came from.... I just happened to notice the price tag was still on the bottle.... I'm guessing the bottle came from Wyoming as that is where the keg and most the other alcohol came from.

You can see the price tag in the pic but not read it. It's obviously bootleg booze because the sticker is not Utah yellow.

The question was hypothetical and certainly the carbonation would have to be there. Maybe like the old Fizzy tablets ( a few of you might remember these). Personally I am a Cuervo put into a plastic bottle guy then mixed with Crystal light.

But the bet was in 24 hours if the response ratio was higher for those that would buy it is was available than those who drink beer would not gets free beer tonight.

Let me tell you guys about the first time I ever took my hot young stripper wife (HYSW) backpacking......

I wanted to make certain she would have an enjoyable experience and go again so I packed her backpack as light as possible. I was packing all the heavy gear and was loaded down like a mule. HYSW was really only packing her sleeping bag and clothing.... in other words she was pretty much packing pillows....

As we are hiking away from the trailhead HYSW asks how much beer it brought along..... I tried to explain that beer was to heavy to backpack and I was packing no alcohol.... HYSW tells me to screw that idea and runs back to the truck and grabs a 6 pack of beer out of the cooler and tells me she'll pack it in.... I knew at that moment I had found my soul mate....
