This has nothin to do with nothin, but I thought I'd share...

I was thinking about buying more guns, but instead I went by Home Depot and picked up a little Lincoln welder, that put me in a buying mood, so I then dropped $900 in Harbor Freight in two days:

Bench grinder, drill press, chop saw, air compressor (w ratchet, chisel, impact, sander, die grinder, paint gun), auto-darken helmet, and all kinds of little stuff, along with a big rollaway toolbox.

I know purchases like this are no big deal for some folks, but I only work part of the year, so dropping that much cash in a couple of days is an event around my house, and I've been wanting a welder for years, so I AM STOKED.

I shall now proceed to make myself various bric-a-brac, thing-a-ma-jigs, doo-hickeys, what-nots, and chingaderas.

STOKED.

What kinda welder Donny? Just a MIG, or did you get an arc, or TIG? I would love to have a nice plasma arc cutter. :2thumbs:

Christmas in July?!?!?!?

That's exactly right.

Dayham. . .can you build me a new trailer.

Funny you should bring that up, what started this whole thing is that I got a folding utility trailer for my kayak, and as I started modifying it I got frustrated due to lack of welder. Problem solved.

Sup dude, hows things?

I got a WeldPak100, as shipped, it's not a MIG, I have to add the regs and bottle of gas, it is expandable to allow that. Lincoln claims that with argon gas and an optional feeding kit I can weld aluminum and stainless with the MIG process, we'll see.

It has as much power as can be had out of a 110v unit, I like staying with 110v, one of these days I'll grab a 2kw Honda generator, then I'll be a mobile welding fool.

A TIG would be great, but the numbers are big, I figure around $1700 for both a TIG and a plasma cutter. Ouch.

Good work :2thumbs: you cant neglect your gun collection either but tools are necessary.

Now you'll get all sorts of new friends (and their projects :haha: )

here is my home box. I have a fairly large collection at work too.
