Missing Couple From Juab County Found; One Person is Dead
July 16th, 2007 @ 5:00pm
Sam Penrod Reporting
Hope turned to heartache this afternoon when a missing Juab County couple was found, but only the husband was alive.
The couple went camping, but family members knew something was wrong when they didn't come home yesterday.
We're told that they are middle-aged, and that they had been out on a trip out in the San Rafael Swell in Emery County. The best way to describe it is in the area of Goblin Valley. It's a remote area in southeast, Utah. It's a very popular area this time of the year.
The couple was reported missing yesterday when they didn't return home, and a search began. The couple was discovered around 12:00 p.m.
The man survived, his wife did not. We do not know the condition of the man other then he was flown out by helicopter. We don't know at this point if they became stranded or if she suffered a medical problem.
The couple is very experienced in the outdoor.
We'll have more on this developing story coming up on Eyewitness News at 6.
