Proposed Bike Pathway Would Run Through Parleys Canyon
July 5th, 2007 @ 6:38am

(KSL News) Summit County officials want to make the road safer for cyclists in Parleys Canyon.

They want to create a bike path that runs parallel to I-80 and connects with State Route 65 at Mountain Dell golf course.

The county government, along with the Salt Lake City government, will pay for a study to determine the feasibility of the trail.

The Deseret Morning News reports that study could get under way in a few weeks and be finished by the end of the year.

I love to ride my bike... I can wait to ride it next to i-80

It's about time! I know lots of cyclists who would LOVE to ride up to Park City, but don't dare ride the shoulder of I-80. Its scary enough to drive, let alone climb on a bike.

I hope they find it feasible, there has been talk about a bike path in parleys for years and years, nice to see some money being put behind the idea.

I hope this happens - there needs to be a good, safe way to bike between Park City and SLC. There are frontage roads most of the way - just need a way to cross I-80 to connect them up.

On a similar note has anybody ridden the dirt trail up and over Parleys recently? Something like Ashley Creek, I rode it a couple of years ago and it was pretty dang cool. I keep thinking that you could make a monster loop over to the Mo Trail. Not enough time to ride everything I want!
