An annual read. Like a pilgrimage of the mind.

Im scheduled to do Canyonlands in the fall...the White Rim trail...100+ miles in three days, at least that is the supposed schedule. I am leaning more to the uutah group ride either in Moab or Zions :haha:

100+ miles in three days, death is emanate. Better to do the group thing and survive.

This is a book that you can not read just once...ed is the man, the dude is my idol! i read the book every spring before i start biking and back-packing. everyone that loves the wilderness needs to read this book and then when you get done...read it again...as ben franklin said.."any book that is not worth reading twice, is not worth reading"
then after you read desert solatire..go buy monkey wrench gang...fun read by ed...

I need to go to Barnes & Noble to see if the book is a little less expensive than REI, 40.00 there but either way I would like to read this book soon, and also I need to get down to moab once it cools off a bit.

Hmm, paperback is $6.99. I had borrowed a friend's copy a couple years ago. Bought my paperback last year at Ruby's Inn, Bryce. Kind of a neat spot to buy it, despite the crass commercialism.

Should have got it at Moab's Arches Book Company - my favourite little bookstore/cafe around...

Wherever, however you get it, read it read it read it! :2thumbs:

You can get Desert Solitaire for $1.06 off Amazon's used book marketplace:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0345326490/ref=dp_olp_2/102-4531238-0701711?ie=UTF8&qid=1186780779&sr=8-2

But, if you're really gonna read Ed you must go to Ken Sanders Rare Books in downtown SLC and browse through the dusty shelves until you find the copy you want to read.

Read Desert Solitaire first. MWG is a fun book, but ultimately it's a comic book. Ed's true passion (and I'd like to believe, his true voice) is best demonstrated in Desert Solitaire.
