Sounds like we have a hike coming together for Thurston peak on Wednesday morning. I have plans in the afternoon so it will have to be early am.

Sounds like on the trip will be Sportsman, Mtnman1830, and Sphillby

Anyone else interested?

Far as a departure time I would prefer as early as possible since I have plans in the afternoon and evening.

Also if anyone has input as to where the easiest route is, and what gates are open etc.. That would be much appreciated. I have heard of approaching from Francis peak and from Kay's Creek. Are the both open now? and which is fastest?

Hey -- for those of us noobs that aren't as familiar with peaks outside of Weber County, remind me: which one is Thurston again? How long/high/intense is the hike? Might be fun to try one of these days. Have plans Wed. afternoon here too, so not sure, but I can think about it.

I just know that I'm still getting back into high-elevation shape (hey, 9k is high elevation for me, okay... quit laughing :haha: ).

Thanks!

Thurston is the highpiont of Davis and Morgan Counties.
It should take us under 5 hours. So I am hoping to hit the trail not much later than 8am and be down by 1pm, or 2pm at the latest.

Here is what I have found on it:

The hike was a success!
See this thread for the TRs and I will soon add some pictures to it.
