i really really really like the uintas. i am glad to have them in my backyard. started from crystal lake th and went to the notch mountain pass and then up along notch's ridge to the high point. niiiiice views. has there been some sort of infestation that has killed trees recently ? it looked like there were an awful lot of snags once i got the big view. then went for a dip in that lake north of hope lake. fully expected major cold water so i went off a 10' cliff and was very pleasantly surprised to feel it no colder than the pool at my apt's. very nice.

all i do is dayhike so i can't give the best report on bugs. i have never been bit once the 1/2 dozen times i have been up this season so far. but i start 10-12 and leave 4-5. i am sure the evenings could be bad and some have posted they definitely are.
