Looks like a great way to encourage the burglars to come back armed next time.

"But police say the action was unnecessarily risky. They want the public to know it's never a good idea to confront suspects committing a crime. It could have turned out much worse for everyone involved. "Thankfully, no one got injured," says Argyle."
The problem is that they felt helpless. Police don't do shit... this is the second time in how long that it happened?
Sounds like little Mexico to me.

What were the police supposed to do? Camp out in the parking lot in case someone came?
They didn't even call the cops this time around.

What would you have done?
Keep calling the cops only to have them show up 20 mintues later and fill out a report that never goes anywhere.
From the web report it sound like this was happening again and again. They tried to get the owner of the place to install cameras, but they wouldn't. We all know what cops do with break ins.

"thousands of dollars of items were stolen..."
Hmm.... Maybe you shouldn't leave stuff in your car? No excuse for the dumbass burglars, but still.
I've had my car broken into once this year as well in Provo. Luckily all there is to steal is a 100 dollar stereo and a pile of gatorades.

Exactly how many times did it happen before? I thought it had only happened once before this incident?

Ah it looks like it was the second time for their car, but others in the complex had been robbed a lot recently. Hmmmm...
Looks like a great way to encourage the burglars to come back armed next time.
I doubt they'll come back armed...given the choice of robbing a place where they know people are armed, or going somewhere else...most likely they'll pick somewhere else.

I guess not being from Utah makes me think differently? My first thought and continuing thought is that the guys are now pissed off and would come right back for the speakers, but armed themselves.
On a side note, these two guys were one of my best friends groomsmen and old roommates (though I've never met them).

Maybe they would... we can only speculate what they'd do. But most burglars are not looking to get in a fire fight, they're looking for path of least resistence to get what they want.

I can definitely see that. These days anything could happen, from the minimum to the maximum.

You're damn right they should, obviously this is a common recurrence. How about getting some cops off of their radar detectors a little while and start protecting and serving. It sounds like a little surveillance could go a long way.

The roommate believed the men were going to run over his friend, so he shot at the driver's front wheel to try to stop him, but the suspects were able to get away.
Wrong move. If your friend's life is in danger, aim for the head.

They're going to have a LOT of parking lots to sit on then...what a waste

Typical car burglar = chicken punk kid or chicken punk druggie. I think it is doubtful they will strike again at the same location. The profile is that these car burglars are cowards. My 2 pennies....

I think this crap will only stop when the punishment isn't worth the crime.
This crap doesn't happen in Saudi Arabia because they cut off your damn hand if caught.
Here they get a week in jail and get out in 24 hours for good behavior. Or they get sent back to Mexico.
What ever happen to paying your dept to society? Stealing, then going to jail for a very short time on tax payers dime has to change.

In Russia, instead of installing a car alarm, we used bear/wolf traps. One broken ankle/wrist will make those fellas think twice.

I'm on the same side as Sombeech. The moment there's a move that makes the scumbag turning violent, there's only one thing to do. Treat 'em like a rabid/feral dog and aim for center mass or the head.
With the way the legal system is now days, a dead criminal can't sue you for just wounding them. :frustrated: If that wasn't the case, I'd have no problem just taking out a knee for a lifelong reminder of what happens when you try to prey on society.
Disagree if you like, it's still a free country. :2thumbs:
