I am going to Canon Beach, Oregon over the 4th of July with my family. I don't know anything about it and was wondering if anyone knows or has been there and what would you recommend to do there?

I am taking my little ones, so it will mostly be beach hanging out, but I was wondering if there is anything neat to see, hikes, exploration, etc that I can do with the kids?

Thanks!

I think I've been there. You can rent dune buggies to ride around on the beach, and they've got good Fish & Chip shops there.

Dune buggies? Like motorized or pedal? Do you have a link?

Take your camera... It's one of the classic vistas on the pacific coast.

There's a park area North of Cannon Beach that is awesome. Watch out for logs in the surf. Unless you're ADD, there's enough stimulation without needing to blow all kinds of bread on a dune buggy.

There's a really cool coffee shop in town, among other things. I was there in December.

I also got to play music on stage in Portland that trip between sets of the New Riders of the Purple Sage, but that's another sordid tale...
