has anyone been here ? we want to go but all the web info just makes my head hurt, it all seems so dissociated and i can't get a picture of what it may be like overall. how many days to get a good, full experience ? i think we would also do the sleepover, sounds cool. and any suggestions for travel agents to get it all booked together, or am i better off booking all the separate fares myself ? don't really want to drive myself there, prefer to stay in a hotel that would provide a shuttle.
thanks for any suggestions.

We did this trip last fall. One full day at Sea World was plenty..... My family enjoyed visiting the Aircraft Carrier Midway the best. It takes a good 4 hours and was the best part of the trip.

I usually buy a package from Get Away Vacations. Good price and you can mix and match whatever you like.

Next favorite items on the menu were visiting the beach and doing the Harbour dinner cruise.

We usually try and schedule San Diego trips so we can watch a Chargers football or Utah football road trip game.
Good luck

I live about 2 miles from Sea World in San Diego. Let me know if you need any suggestions about where to eat, what to see, where to sleep, etc, and so on.

I also used get away today vacations to go, they lined me up with tickets, and hotel for a really good price. I personally wouldn't touch Southern California in the summer, there is to many people. I would go in the fall before Thanksgiving week, your able to really get in and see the attractions fairly easy.

Yeah, been to the Bahia many a time. Nice place. Did you already reserve it? The Catamaran Restort (located at Mission Blvd and Pacific Beach Drive) is a great resort. They have a jungle atmosphere, restuarants, piano bar, outstanding views (stay high up in the tower facing south if you can). They have a GREAT view if you stay high up in the tower, you can see most of Misson Bay, the surf, sea world, downtown, and whatnot. The bottom is not bad either. Not to mention they are more near restaurants and family such stuff in the Pacific Beach (PB for short) area. The bahia has a nice location (south mission bay), and is near the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster, Belmont Park (small amusement park) and lots of small tourist shops, and so-so places to eat. I would stay at the Catamaran over it anyday though.

Most of the restuarants are located north toward Pacific Beach ( you are staying in Mission Beach/MissionBay) up mission blvd. Personally, I think that World Famous is a great place to eat. Right on the boardwalk, great seafood, appetizers, drinks, and scenery. Park in the underground parking underneath Tony Roma's, and have World Famous valid your parking for free, or buy a pack of gum at the store in the parking lot. great people watching if you sit near the window and watch the boardwalk/ waves.

Saska's is very good as well for seafood and steaks. I've had some good steaks there and shrimp. Small cozy place, but parking is a biznatch but doable. Careful, there is a Saska's sushi as well.

The Green Flash is good as well, and right on the boardwalk.

Gringo's is great for Mexican and drinks.

Nick's at the beach is good food, and people watching.

Let me know if you need more info or ideas for things to see.
P.S. your hotel, the Bahia, as a couple large boats that cruise around Misson Bay, and either take to you the Catamaran on the other side of the bay, or serve you dinner and drinks. Make sure that the check in person throws in some free tickets for the boat ride. It kinda sucks (well, partially) but can be neat to watch the nightly summer fireworks from sea world in (every night at 9:52pm). Bahia Belle is one boat, and I forget the other.
P.P.S. Do not worry about getting around in Misson Bay/PB, or around San Diego with your car. It is MUCH MUCH MUCH easier than LA, and not near as bad as you think. The Bahia is about a 3 min drive to Sea World, and the Catamaran about a 10 min drive (depending on your route). We have rush hour traffic like everybody else, and around sundown the east county people pack the road going out of the beach, but that is it. In the summer, public parking lots fill up by 10am or so. If you stay at either place, you can walk to the beach, and even Sea World (from the Bahia) if you are feeling energetic. Bottomline, very easy to get around in your own car. Trust me, I live here.

Goofball, we usually go down over UEA and there are no crowds because the SoCal kids are all in school. Funny part about going over UEA is half the folks you meet at D-land or Sea World are from Utah.
