We had a great ride, especially me. Once the downhill came around, I felt great, very much in control of the bike. :afro:

We had 12 of us, and we all had a great time. There were a couple of flats on the way, but there was no rush, so we all just chilled.

PS, REDFOX forgot his helmet. :lol8:

Excellent choice of rides fellas! :hail2thechief: :hail2thechief:

From start to finish, I had a great ride. Puke hill as a challenge, but I'm 1 for 1 so I have a good record! :five: That's quite a workout for sure.

The downhill portion of the trail was excellent. I really dug the root droppers and little ledges. I could do that trail every week (if I didn't live so far away).

Except for the flat front tire within 300 yards of the end, it was an epic run.

Those gloves were better than welding gloves. fortycal was nice enough to let me use his coyote killing gloves. I had to have something on my hands in the event that I became separated from my bike. :lol8:

And I hear the impact absorption of baseball caps is surprisingly good! :wallbash:

And I hear the impact absorption of baseball caps is surprisingly good! :wallbash: I had to have the hat to prevent a sunburned bald spot on the back of my head, or to cover up helmet hair if I would have remembered my helmet.

If I had forgot my helmet I probably would have still rode too! Not sure I would have been as crazy on the spine though.

From the looks of the pictures and the comments it looks like I missed one awesome ride. :2thumbs: :2thumbs: Guess that will teach me to beat my bike up. :frustrated:

Sweet ride. I believe i'm the only one that had any bike or body carnage, conveniently i had both. A destroyed front brake line and a couple sore spots are the result of a little tumble. The ride was still totally worth it though.

I took a few photos. Here's the gang at the top of Puke Hill:

I've got a few more photos, mostly of riders coming up Puke Hill, here:

And while I'm at it, here are some photos from last weekend's ride down the Thunder Mountain trail:

Nice "teaser" video - good footage of the Spine - the slow-mo was the perfect choice to show what was really going on.

REDFOX's speed and huck were awesome. Although it may not look that menacing in the video, that 2 foot gap REDFOX hucked would easily swallow a whole tire. In other words, if you don't jump it, you eat it big time.

But I was equally impressed with fourtycal's runs, especially the one along the peak of The Spine. Yea, there was one dab, but it still rocked.

Ahh, fourtycal, (Keith). Yeah, he made a couple of nice runs on the Spine.

Thanks for the pictures!

LOL

I don't have kids and I still wouldn't do that. Too much of a pansy!

"He must not have any kids"

LOL

I don't have kids and I still wouldn't do that. Too much of a pansy! Married for 15 years and I have 3 kids. Previous experience with downhill racing makes sections like the spine seem insignificant. Once you've completed a downhill race alive, you realize what your capabilities are. I have backed off quite a bit; however, I do enjoy pushing my bikes suspension.

Don't let REDFOX kid you. He is still crazy as ever even after fracturing two vertebrets in his neck during a race. :Ahnuld: Doesn't let much slow him down.

Racing definately does help!!

Anyone missing some tools from this ride? Here's the story:

I gave my spare tube to a fellow in our group (sorry, I didn't get everyone's name) who had a flat. At the end of the ride he gives me a tube in a box. I discovered yesterday that the box doesn't contain a tube, it has a patch kit and some tools in a ziplock bag. If this is your stuff, PM me so I can arrange to get your stuff back to you.

Nope, thats not my stuff. I think the tube DJ gave you was a cannondale tube in a beat up yellow box. :ne_nau:
