Ok. The uutah.com Moab Ride will be the 18-21 of October. We'll work out the details as time gets closer, but post up here if you would like to meet everyone in Moab.

I'm interested.

I may even try to sneak down to Thunder Mountain for one day. I've GOT to ride that trail.

Maybe we do a southern Utah (Gooseberry, JEM, etc.) thing instead. That would put you closer to Bryce, wouldn't it?

September 28th?

You know, maybe we can have another uutah canyon/trail trip again, this time right there in Zion.

Canyoneers go this way, bikers go this way, then meet up for dinner at night.

I added a poll for the dates that work for most people. Vote for your preference of dates and we'll use the majority rule.

I like the idea of a Zion's uutah fest.

I am pretty flexible as long as I can have a weeks notice. I am all for it. The only problem I have is deciding whether to bike or do canyons? :ne_nau:

Where in Zion you thinkin? ...something of questionable legality? I might be in, if I can talk the wifey into watching the shop for me. :naughty:

There's a plethora of trails just out side Zion park. Gooseberry, JEM, Flying Monkeys (if you're insane), Little Creek Mountain, etc.

I am not too interested in hiking if we go down. We already had a uutah noob fest with the canyoneering fellas. Had a great time, but Moab is bike territory IMO. Also, I go to the St. George area all the time. I would be a little more interested in doing a uutah moab assult. But I'll attend either. We just need to nail down the date. All of my October weekends are looking open except the 2nd one.

shlingdawg
06-30-2007, 08:48 PM
I can do either. We'll find plenty of trails to bike in either location.

I'd like to stay away from Conference weekend if possible. Less crowds. That nixes the 4-7 of October unless it's the only dates that work.

How about we say the 18-21 of October and try to collect as many as can be there?

Objections?

I won't be able to come down until the evening of the 18th. I have training that day.

Anyone else bringing their wife/significant other? Mine wants to come, but doesn't bike (does hike, camp, etc). I don't want to leave her by herself while we ride.

Are we going to setup a UUtah.com campsite for the overnight, or is everyone making individual arrangements?

All right! Fuzzy, good to have you come! :cool2:

Does everyone want a group campout or to make their own reservations... I can't get off work until 4:00 on Friday, but I'll head down after that. :2thumbs:

What trails are you planning on riding while down there? I am checking my schedule to see if I can make it but need to make sure it doesnt land on the same weekend as the 24 hrs of Moab or the Moab Festival.

I'm prolly going to be staying a motel. Camping is fine for Jeeping, but I like my hot tub, and a nice shower.

The trails that I want to hit are:

Porqupine Rim (http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/porcup.htm)
Sovereign Singletrack (http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/sovergn.htm)
Amasa Back (http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/amassa.htm)

It's been years since I've done the Slickrock Trail (http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/slickrck.htm) and I wouldn't mind doing that either.

Hey all you Moab Mountain Bikers, I have a question for you...

Saturday, October 20th, I want to ride a dirt century. :eek2: I want to ride down the horse thief canyon, along the white rim, and take the potash road into Moab. This ride will be self supported, and my target time is around 12 hours...

Is anyone interested??? I can carry a few extra bikes to the trail head if someone needs.

Please judge your own ability and be realistic on whether or not you'd be able to handle the ride.

Thanks!

Are we going to stay somewhere central?

Ride listings?

I want to go, just need to know a few details.

Here I be.

Sorry. I've been dragging the dog on this. It's still on!

I plan on staying in town at a motel (Notel 6 is where I usually stay). I like the idea of the staggaring distance though.

My plan:
Head down the 18 (Thursday), check in. Eat. Sleep.

Friday 19:
Start the trip out right with a shuttled Porquipine Rim. Since most of that is downhill, another trail shouldn't be out of the question. Since we'll have to go back up to the trailhead up Sand Flats, we can hit Slickrock on the way back; after lunch maybe. And a nap?

Saturday 20:
Amasa Back and/or Sovereign Singletrack

Sunday 21:
Short trail in the AM (Bartlett Wash)??
Go home.

What did I leave out?

Bad news for me. :frustrated: :frustrated: I'll be heading back from St. Louis late Friday night. I wouldn't be able to make it down until late Saturday morning at the earliest. :frustrated: :frustrated:

I love sales meetings.

Ironically, I will be calling on the Moab Hospital (Allen Memorial) that next week, Thursday & Friday and will likely be staying the weekend if anyone wants to join up. I plan on having my bike w/ me. I'm involved in the hospital golf tournament on Friday from 10 - 3, but will be ready to ride after and Saturday and Sunday.

Sorry to disrupt my own trip. Hope it doesn't affect the rest of you.

There will be a few of us down there the next weekend. Let me know if you are interested in joining us for a ride or two. We are probably going to ride Slickrock Friday morning (26), and then a Porcupine shuttle Friday afternoon. Saturday we will probably ride Gold Bar Rim and Sovereign trail.

Any solid itinerary for you folks yet? What hotel you staying at? I'm trying to figure out if I can make it, wondering where y'all will be at. If Justin can get his pansy ace out of Monti, I'd like to check out a couple canyons by day, do some photography, and party with y'all by night...

Who is still going? We need to decide where to meet on Friday. Beech and I will roll into Moab around 10-11 AM. We could meet at a trail head after lunch for an afternoon ride. 1 or 2 would work. What should we ride first? If others are already in town they could do an AM ride and meet up with us for an afternoon scamper. Waz the scoop?

I'll in! I'll be heading down on Friday around noon. I'm staying at the days inn...

Friday afternoon I have to go and drop supplies for the century I'm doing on Saturday. My girlfriend is wondering if anyone is doing some easy rides she could tag along Saturday. She's a better rider then she'll admit too.

Where is everyone meeting Saturday night? Time?

I have a few place I like to go in Moab, but aren't the most popular. For example, I don't really care much for Zax Pizza -- it tastes kinda like cardboard.

I really like the Moab Brewery - the food is great, though a little bit more expensive than average. (You get what you pay for).

Eddie McStiffs is so-so. Some dishes are good, others are really bland.

Fiesta Mexicana has been consistently good every single time I've been.

Pasta Jays -- too touristy. It's probably the very first place tourists head to.

There are a few other places I've yet to try, but come highly recommended from several other locals around here.

Just my $0.02...
