Went to Spirit Lake on the North Slope Uintas this weekend and did some day hiking.
The bugs were AWFUL.
The fishing and scenery were fantastic. Went to Tamarack Lake and then up to Fish Lake (10800 ft.). There was some snow under the trees at around 11000 feet, but that was it. The mud holes and bogs were dry as a bone, and it felt more like mid-July.
I will post some pics later as I still need to download them.
If you can put up with the bugs, it is now prime time. In a couple of weeks the bugs should be gone, but it will be dry as a bone.
