The snow has melted off and its time to hit the crest. We will meet at the Mill D trail head around 5:30-45, then shuttle up to the top. Bring yer lungs and you might want to pass on any Mexican food that day. After the climb up puke hill, the downhill is epic and should not be missed. This is one of Utah's world class trails. :five:

I'll check the schedule and see if I can't make it up. Maybe drive up to SLC and hitch a ride to the trail with someone so I don't get lost.

Oh and I checked youtube out of curiosity. Here's some trail footage...

Actually, I can claim him as a bud, I was on that ride with him!! :-)

I may actually come on this ride - think I'm ready as it will be only my second ride this year? heehee!

Are you coming down Desolation lake way, or dropping into Mill Creek? (is it an odd day or even?)

Hey Tree,

We will come out Mill D. The Millcreek exit would take too long for a Tuesday night ride. We can shuttle up in a couple pickups, fourty usually has his too.

I will volunteer to take the owners of the truck(s) back up the mountain to fetch their trucks at the top, after the ride. I am half way home at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Glad you like those movies. I watch em a lot...like riding through heaven. :ride: Might make it back there in Sept. with a much better helmet cam.

Can't someone invent a transporter so I can go on the 26th? Comeon...think of the oil we'll save.

Hmm that sounds like fun, i love this trail. Is anyone going who is kinda slow on the uphills? I have a big bike (my excuse for being slow and out of shape,) so i'd take a minute on the uphill and i don't want to slow the group down but i'd love to come. So anyone willing to admit to being slow?

It's possible I might not make it.

I may have to pick my wife up at the airport at 3:55, and she's got my camcorder.

I've thought about riding it without video, but I'd have to come up again. Plus, I'd be coming from Ogden at around 5, so I doubt I'll make it.

I wont be there, now, either. I forgot my husband is off work this week, we're gonna ride Crest to Mill Creek during the day, with Mtnbkr's wife!

I don't know about the logistics, but if you want to drop your car off w/ your wife at the airport, I can take you up to the ride, then take you home after. I'll be heading that way anyway.

I'd come, but I'm scared that I would take a nasty fall and screw up my knee again. Lemme get a few easier rides under my belt first, then I'll come play with y'all.

Unless something comes up, I'll be there. The Crest is just too tasty.

Sorry to bail on you guys this week! I want to go so bad, but today is too busy for me. As sad as I am that I'm going to miss puke hill, at least you'll be able to finish the trail tonight.

Mill D trail head at 5:30?

[b]Getting there: Go to Big Cottonwood Canyon (Wasatch Blvd and 72nd South) and drive 8.8 miles up from the traffic light. Park near the trailhead on your left. GPS N 40

I respect working for the downhill, but I can't resist a shuttle when one is available.

Is anyone interested in extending the ride into Millcreek Canyon by staying on the Crest past Desolation Lake and taking the Great Western Trail (GWT) down to Big Water trail then up past Dog Lake and down to join Mill D? Would there be enough time for this?

There is plenty of time just probably not enough daylight. You could probably do the whole ride you speak of in 3 hours but with the crew we got going it will be close to that long before we start the good downhill. Alright I might be exaggerating a little. But why would you want to climb more after puke hill that is what I would like to know.

Nice riding Scott! Being a newb to the Crest trail, I can see why it's rated so highly. That rivals Porqupine rim for me. We'll have to do that one again.

Congrats on Puke. But I did make it up before you! :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :haha: :five: :five:

Me too! And this was my first time to do so! Last time (last year) I was soo close. I was pleased that I'm in good enough condition and was able to maintain my determination. Making that climb has been on my list for years, and now it's checked off! I apologize if any of you thought I was a jerk for not stopping. I told a few people that I wanted to try it non-stop. I wasn't trying to show off. This was a personal goal and I was feeling good about making the attempt, and I only get to the Crest a few times a year.

What a good ride! It was a big crew, but everyone was mellow and just wanted to enjoy the ride - and we did! I got to witness 2 great runs down the Spine - inspiring! And the good vibe from the group got me riding better. Last time I was annoyed at myself for wimping out on stuff that is within my capability. Tonight I rode some sections that I've never cleaned and felt more confident on all the spooky spots. No, I didn't try the Spine - that thing still psyches me out. Still, I enjoyed the ride and the company, and was happy with myself for being at least more gutsy than the last time I rode it.

Thanks all for the ride! I should be able to make the Tibble Fork ride next week too, unless I have to work late.
