Well, I finally solved the puzzles such as in this thread:
http://uutah.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7068

I was trying to solder some wires together, and then at 10 o'clock tonight, I thought of an alternative. Now all I have to do is heat shrink the cables together for a watertight connection.

But the main point is, my camcorder is safe, and I've got data coming all the way from the helmetcam. :2thumbs:

You'll notice after I pull the cam out of the water, there is water on the lens. While boating, I think I'll take the front cover off so we can quickly wipe the lens if needed. (this won't affect the waterproofing)

How do you start it and stop it? Do you have to open the box every time?

If you want a simpler alternative: link (http://www.amazon.com/Pentax-Optio-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B000LXZYKW/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-0169068-6199227?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1181046906&sr=8-1)

Yeah, it will have to be really secure while wakeboarding and skiing, due to the stunts and the high speeds. I'll have to fasten the box inside my backpack and just have the cable and helmetcam coming out.

I could definitely go a more easy access if I were on a river or something, which I still may look into. I'm just worried about the camera popping off of the mount in the middle of a backflip.

I assume you are talking about the Pentax camera or your own?

I dropped my helmet in the water, which got sucked in by a rapid, hit a rock and popped right out, too bad it wasn't recording then :(

My fear is just completely losing it from my helmet. I'm sure the pentax can take the bumps, but I may completely lose it out on the lake.

to what depth is it waterproof?

I hope I never find out. :lol8:

Actually, people go scuba diving with this exact same box and camera. The box is an Otterbox.

The only weak link are the connections from the box to the helmetcam, which I will wrap up in heat shrink tape to make waterproof.

If you go scuba diving most of the life is with in 35 feet of the surface anyway. And I would think it could handle up to that depth.

OK, it's final. I waterproofed the connections with some silicone and heat shrink tubing.

I even prepped a mount on the wakeboard for a cool angle. Don't worry, it unscrews. This will give me a choice of 360 degrees, and even looking up at the rider.

The bolt head is sticking through the bottom of the board, but I don't think this will cause much drag in the water, as this is the front lip, and is usually out, or light on the water.

How's next Saturday? Or maybe a quickee after work. We'll have to get Mark lined up with his boat for some good ski clips too.
