I haven't been up Olympus yet, but I've been on a few others above 11,000 in the last week, and a buddy on Lone Peak Saturday. Snow is basically clear below 10k, and should be clear on all south and west facing slopes...

Haven't been there for sure to see it yet, but considering Olympus is about 9000 feet, I'd imagine you are good to go...

Good friend of mine did it on the 20th and said it is snow free all the way to the top. He said there wasn't even any muddy parts on the way to the saddle.

There is a big tree blocking the trail up high though.

Tell me more about this big tree blocking the trail. I assume it is relatively easy to get around?

You can crawl under it or go to the left of it, there is a little path started already, it's about 1.5 hours up the trail.

Is one allowed to take their dog up Mt. Olympus?

Yes, dogs are allowed up Mt. Olympus if you take the main trail from Wasatch Blvd. However, if you cross over onto the Big Cottonwood Canyon side of the mountain you're in the watershed and subject to some ridiculous fine.
