This was a sweet hike. There was the coolest gorge! I tried documenting it but pictures don't do it justice. There was a hand tram we had to use to get across the river. Anyway, it was fun

I remember Girdwood, where they get 800-1000 inches of snow per year.

That looks rad. Never seen a hand tram before... Very cool. Looks like the snow is coming off quick, if it gets that much.

Although the hand tram was not the coolest part of that hike, it was way cool to cross it. They leave 4 pairs of gloves in it so you can't have people pulling from either side and inside of it. This hike is probably on my top 10 of all time. I really enjoyed it!

well more like 750" on avg. at the upper most reaches of the ski area. the lower mountain gets considerably less. the gradient is amazing. what's more amazing is that the base of the ski area is at elev. 250'. it's wild that you can see an arm of the ocean come right up to the canyon the ski area is in. fun ski area ... christmas/new years chutes were excellent! in fact ... FYI a utahn just purchased alyeska last fall.

hey discgo ... i see you've officially changed your name. glad to see you're enjoying yourself up north. do you usually go to the forest fair?

looking forward to more photos. the area around girdwood is pretty great. some of the northern most pacific temp. rain forest. it's crazy that the mountain hemlock there at sea level sits at 10000'+ in california.

enjoy your time up there
