I'm surprised that any American cities made the list. We have long admired Canadian and New Zealand folks for the obvious pride they take in their homes and cities. Not necessarily the finest homes, but kept clean and nicely landscaped. Limited experience with Switzerland, but same feelings about them. Americans generally just don't seem to have that sense of pride anymore, although their are many exceptions, of course. Litter is one of our most pervasive problems, especially in tourist areas. Even our beautiful outdoor places are marred by litter.
