A Gun Free Zone is only Gun Free until the murderer with nothing to lose comes in.

Did you read the counter article?

So let's just disregard all the hoopla about the race of the student responsible for the slayings. These students were not killed by a Korean, they were killed by a 9 mm handgun and a .22-caliber handgun.

Yeah - I hate when those guns just load themselves and point themselves at innocent people and shoot them. I'm glad none of mine do that

People, People, People, get the facts right. Guns don't kill people its the bullets. DUUUUH...... its those pesky bullets that get up and stick themselves in the gun and somehow magically propel themselves into the poor feller who is in the way.

So let's keep the guns - ban the bullets? Makes sense to me.

So let's keep both so I can end the life of a South Korean when he acts up :roflol: I mean, if all I had was the gun, I would have to beat the snot out of him and that would leave his entrails on me. I guess if I have to, but I'd rather use that pesky little bullet :lol8:

For a guy who likes to correct grammar, jump on the high horse, maybe you should learn to check yourself.

Here's some help for you:

Main Entry: capeesh
Part of Speech: interj
Definition: do you understand?
Example: I will call you when dinner is ready. Capeesh?
Etymology: Italian capisce 'understand'

I have a hard time still with the hold box knife terrorists. I'm sorry, but if someone threatened me with a box knife - I'd knock the shit out of them. A box cutter and a plane full of guys. I'd take my floation device and use it as a shield from the 'box cutter' and tear them a new one.

But, that's off topic. Sorry - had to rant.

A laptop computer makes very heavy solid weapon. Can you say "blunt trauma"? Every time I fly I almost hope some freakshow tries something so I can lay a serious lesson on him or her.

In defense of the 9-11 victims on the first three planes, they thought they were dealing with normal hyjackers. Some extremist would take the plane and demand something stupid. Most people lived, but maybe one or two were killed. Cooperation was the name of the game. If you played by the rules you'd probably see your home and family again. But the terrorists made a huge miscalculation on 9-11. Hyjacking is forever gone as a tool of coersion. If a plane I'm on is hyjacked I will consider myself already dead. As a result, any action necessary to neutralize/eliminate the threat, up to and including the loss of my life, is within the scope of reason. Now when I fly I make it a point to wear pants with a belt so I have something to whip with. Do they allow duct tape on planes?

To keep it on topic, the same tools would probably work pretty well against a school/office/mall shooter. Start throwing chairs as accurately and quickly as you can. And for heaven's sake, don't let the greasy rat reload. Take his sorry butt down. The VT shooter fired approx. 140 rounds from two handguns. There had to be some downtime in that scenario.

Cho was very accurate. We can't second guess how the victims responded.

The kid at Trolley Square was prepared as well. Reports had it that he would shoot two rounds - reload. His shotgun held 3 rounds - he always had one in the chamber.

Cho was even more prepared -and so will the next person. Unfortunately.

Fight or flight. I willing to bet none of them had the fight part in them. Flight seemed to be the direction of choice. It appears that most, if not all, of these students were never brought up around firearms. There is a big difference between the sound of construction and a firearm discharging.

There's a couple of things to this. When it comes to a suicidal individual that decides he is not going out alone and is willing to take people with him, that's one serious thought. That is one action that reasoning will have no use. Now, if someone is going to kill you, you have one of two choices. You can sit there and be killed or die fighting. I'll be taking my chances on the die fighting aspect. There's a chance you will survive in the fight, you're pretty much have no chance if you just sit there. If you're dead set on killing me, you're working for it

Have either of you ever been shot at? I have. Fortunately the person wasn't bent on killing and a good run was definitely better than a bad stand. The way I see it, the difference between Trolley Square and VT is simple. At Trolley Square somebody had the courage and the means to confront the attacker. Go back and read what the The Nuge said. Putting a school/mall/office shooter on the defensive tips the scales immensely in the victim's favor regardless of the victim's defensive weapon. Shoot, tackle, beat with a chair, or break off an arm that's poking around a door. If I'm cornered in a classroom or an office I'm fighting back.

I don't care how "prepared" you say either shooter may have been. They had to reload some time. That means their attention was divided and their hands were occupied. There's no way they were as good as this guy. I'm glad he's on our side.

Been shot at once when in the Scouts by an insane redneck. Our whole troop was out hiking and this guy went off because we tramped too close to his land. We ran like crazy, and I could hear the shot peppering the leaves around us.

Not too long ago, I confronted an intruder with a shotgun. Worked quite nicely.

You were the one with the shotgun? Since your still around I'm guessing you were. If so, nice job sticking it to a bozo.

I had a criminal justice professor who said, "If you break into my house and I grab my .45 ACP I'll probably hit you and may kill you. If I grab my shotgun I will hit you and I will kill you."

Ah, a gramatical error. Thanks. Yeah, it was me with the shotgun. I had a choice when I went to the closet of a couple pistols, an SKS, the old .22. But the short bbl 16 ga looked like the most fun. And yes, in close situations, that's the one to use.

Shotguns are idel boat guns, too, because overshot won't sink you where a stray 7.62x39 will. Lotta boaters with AKs. Remington, in fact, used to make the "Mariner" 12 ga pump, 20" bbl, stainless steel.

I know a guy that has a .45 double barrel, side-by-side pistol. The barrels are about 4" long. He calls it his "rattle snake gun." Why would he call a .45 a snake gun? Because while it can shoot .45 ACP it was really designed to fit two .410 shotgun shells.

Taurus makes a 410 revolver that is sweet.
