i found a 93 cherokee 4x4 for 2500. has a 3.5" tough country lift, tow hitch, roof rack. 130k miles. 4L I6. is this a good year ? any quirks w/ em or things to look for ? it is from a co-worker who has had it in family for 3 years and maybe drives it 10K miles a year.

That inline 6 engine is one tough beast. I think you will be pleased with the torque.
mine had a standard tranny behind it that always would grind going into reverse and eventually in every gear.
The rear main seal on the engine tends to leak on some so look for that.
The clearcoat on the paint is a problem area, look for fading or peeling. A waxing now and then is a good practice
I put a new radiator in around 120,000 but it was probably my fault for lack of preventive maintenance.
Overall I would give it a thumbs up :2thumbs:

Agree. My 93 wrangler had that engine, lots of torque. I loved it.

Get em' down a bit and it seems fine. The 4.0L is one good engine

My '99 TJ tranny grinds going into 2nd and a little going into 3rd. But I do love that straight 6. Mmm-mmm-mmmmm.

teh last few trucks i have owned i've had shitty luck. glad to hear the confidence voiced over this make/model. i know the guy as well and he is (almost) beyond reproach, so i think i have nothing to worry about, other than how hard i am on vehicles. can't wait to get back in a truck again ! :2thumbs: one more month and i'll get to take it south. yay !
