In the unlikley event of a zombie attack ... What is your first plan of action?

So far my plan is too fortify my residence and beat them down with my shovel and golf clubs ,But I am open to other suggestions.

Depends what horror film generation the Zombies take after.

Are they slow lurchers, or fast runners?

Lets say classic zombies... so slow lurchers.

If it is anything like "Dead Rising" for Xbox 360, I'd have to go with the Katana and slice them up like lunch meat, or blow their heads off with a 12 ga. :duel:

Thast fine for about an hour but what about when you get tired and overwhelmed with all the attacking zombies?

zombie plan from rvb -

Grif: In my zombie plan, I'm going to Alaska, because zombies have no body heat. They'll freeze like corpse-sicles! It's brilliant!
Doc: Nobody else thinks about stuff like that!
Grif: Hey Simmons!
Simmons: What?
Grif: What's your zombie plan?
Simmons: You still doin Alaska?
Grif: You know it!
Simmons: You'll never make it Grif, the major freeways will be choked with stalled cars and people trying to flee the major population centers! Its going to be nothing but a tasty fresh bottleneck!
Grif I'm just going to have to take that risk!
Simmons: Good luck to you Grif!
Grif: Good luck to you too Simmons!
Doc: Are you guys brain-damaged?

Weed sprayer full of gas and wind proof matches. This eliminates one step, the killing thing, followed by burning them to kill the virus. Kill and burn all at the same time. :2thumbs: Otherwise, 12 gage shot gun.

If the aerial assault is not available with the cannonball, the bowling ball method would clear a path for escape.

Well, up until the would-have-been-unwatchable-except-I-saw-it-in-an-Oakland-
movie-theater-where people-actually-yelled-"Don't you go in there!"-
and-"Oh, no he dinnit"-at-the-screen Land of the Dead I would have suggested an island, or at least a bitchin' moat. But, thanks to Big Daddy (http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/images/C/C9125.jpg) zombies now can "swim".

I still stand by my assertion that bladed weapons don't need to be reloaded, but I think this a good summary of weapons one could effectively wield against attacking zombies:

- Sword
- 12 gauge shot gun (sawed off, preferably)
- Small explosives (hand grenades, primarily)
- Cross bow
- Record collection (but not Purple Rain)

One must also keep in mind the practicalness (is that a word?) of the weapon's ammunition. It's fairly easy to carry additional shotgun shells and arrows. But a belt-fed M16 or AR15 presents a logistical problem if you don't have transportation. Although, imagine how bad ass it would be carry Blain's minigun from Predator.

I'm not a big fan of fire-based weaponry because fires have a tendency to get out of hand, and could potentially block an escape route if you find yourself surrounded by zombies.

I think my plan would be to flee into the Wasatch Mountains (particularly if the attack takes place in the non-winter months) and take refuge in one of the old abandoned mines. The zombies could stay plenty busy savaging the Salt Lake Valley, and we would have plenty of time to make plans for escaping to other civilization centers. (Boulder, CO anyone? Oh wait...wrong virus).

I'm glad someone picked up on that! The Stand is one of my all-time favorite books, I've read it at least four times. (I've kinda lost track). I even named my dog after Glen Bateman's dog.

Okay tie up a couple of stray cats to lure in a bunch of zombies and then nail them with a rocket launcher. You could take out 100 at a time.

My plan: duct tape and plastic sheeting. :2thumbs: I'm not sure how well that's gonna work, but according to Homeland Security, it's the best defense against zombies. At least I think they said something about zombies. :lol8:

turn around raise your arms, roll your eyes back in your head and lurch right along with them. then go find the hot girl hiding in a closet screaming. you know she'll be there cause her friends said "wait here we will be right back" everyone knows that you can't run from a zombie. it triggers there chase reflex.

This is so easy. I'd head for the boonies on the peddle bike. Zombies can't ride bikes.

Two rules of thumb in Zombie attacks, same as bears, make sure you are the fastest runner amoungst the people you are hanging out with. The second seems to be that since they don't die, you have to dis-arm them, and dis-leg them. Any weapon that can accomplish this with out haveing to be with in reach of them would work. However, usually just being able to run with out slipping all the time seems to work also.

I agree, this is all so scary. I hate the undead, especially when they are all around you and you find out you've been trying to get help fighting them from a guy that just happens to be one of them.

What is the Zombie Walk?

Simply put, the zombie walk is when a large crowd of people plan to dress up like zombies, meet at a pre-determined location (usually a mall since there's a lot of people and plenty of open space), and then walk around moaning and groaning. That being said, we're doing one here in Richmond, VA this October and we're looking for a few good zombies to join in the fun.

What is it that makes a Zombie so much more capable than when it was a human? What is the transformation that makes what used to be a pencil pushing wimp into an undestructable force of mahem, and what makes them all of the sudden want to kill everyone? Why can't they just be a zombie and chill a little?

This thread must come back from the dead.

In the event of a zombie attack I would be called up with the national guard and as always happens in b-movie plots I would be killed due to incompetent leadership leaving the main characters with no hope of rescue.

For now, the plans pretty loose. Run like hell! However, I do have a plan with a couple of buddies of mine. We're gonna move to Kansas and build a large compound with fortified walls. We will take up sniping positions and have a turkey shoot.

Found this little number the other day. Hardwood axe handle with brush cutting blade on it - sharpened on both sides... cuts on the back stroke too! Should be able to behead those pesky zombies in a single stroke. More efficient than ammo... and doesn't run out.
