Thanks to all you folks I decided to give canyoneering a try. I used Shanes beta for Yankee Doodle and we went and did it yeaterday. I had taken a class and done a canyon as part of the course but this was a lot more fun.

Day did not start off well when my little Canon Digi Elph died! So no pictures, sorry. Guess I'll have to go back. :2thumbs:

I went with an experienced guide and one of his friends. Very cool seeing how he problem solved the route. We used all natural anchors and it was a good lesson.

Boy, do I need to get in shape!

Was there any water in Yanke Doodle?

Happy you enjoyed it. Living near Zion you have a lot to see. You might want to give Keyhole a try next. It's a great little canyon to learn in.

Yeah, I got Error18, turns out there is a site just about that. Tried all the fixes and gave up. Ordered an Olympus 720, watrproof and drop proof. Ha Ha!

No water in the canyon. The one that is pretty deep toward the end had a bit but we were able to do a bypass. Nobody got wet and I'm not unhappy.

I think it was a the same spot that we heard a racket down canyon. There wasn't anyone else in it so we were really perplexed. Turns out some ATVers had parked up on the road and were throwing rocks and beer cans into the canyon. This was a little past the exit so we just climbed out.

I've been back up in that area before and you usually see people you don't want to be friends with. At least not me. In fact, I've never even seen another hiker up there.
