He is talking about Moab Daily, which is a relaxing float. Don't expect big rapids though. If you can get a permit for Westwater canyon, just up from the Daily section, that is a class IV canyon and can be done in one day.

Moab Daily is more a family oriented, none permit section of Colorado river.

I did WestWater canyon last year. If you want to do it, you have to get the permit now! You can get it up to either 3 months of 100 days in advance (I think). It was awesome!

Lots of canyons and hikes around Zion. Which haven't you done? The subway? The Zion Narrows? Angels Landing?

North Coyote Buttes is doable if you can get a permit. Otherwise, Wire Pass and Buckskin Gulch are good hiking slots.

Lower Antelope Canyon is not as touristy or crowded as Upper. It's just a walk really, with ladders to get you over the drops, but it's great for photography.

moab is a beautiful place. july will be hot though.

the westwater canyon trip is worth the day. gorgeous canyon and huge rapids. "skull" and "sock it to me" are 2 of the big ones. it's been years since i rafted it but i've flipped boats (2 times) and spent time in the "room of doom" (this huge whirlpool that you have to be choppered out of at high water if you get caught in it). absolutely a great trip. you only need a permit if you are going to do a private trip. it sounds like if you are coming up for the day you willl be doing a commercial trip. kinda crazy to bring all your own rafting gear that far for a day trip. so, you just book the trip with a commercial outfitter in moab (there's several), turn up in the am. and they provide transportation and lunch and you are away laughing.

mountainbiking in moab can't be beat either. it has turned in to the mountainbiking mecca since i first went to moab in 1975. i think there are more bike shops than bars in moab. heaps of dedicated bike trails and old 4WD roads that you can ride. you could spend weeks there riding.

just plain sightseeing too. island in the sky, in canyonlands, deadhorse point state park, and arches nat. park are only a short drive from moab.

rock climbing at wall street along the potash road is popular. except it probably too hot in july. some nice petroglyph panels there too, also you can see the moab man petroglyph out along the old "spanish trail road) near the golf course south of town.

can you tell i love moab. going there for only one day is not even close to long enough. there's just so much to do.

have fun on your trip. and know that you will be going back in the future to see the things you missed.

If you do the float, DO NOT employ Adrift Adventures. They are extremely unprofessional.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed JJ and his friend "KillJar". If you do use them, look out for the "Groover".

How about rent a jeep and go visit Chesler Park and the Cracks in Canyonlands. The drive over Elephant hill is lots of fun and incredibly scenic.

Thanks, I think we're going with the Westwater Canyon trip. Moab is beautiful. I've biked there several times...Slick Rock,....Porcupine Rim, Bartlett Wash...etc...awesome...too hot for that in July though.

When are you going to be down there? I am launching on April 14th and 21st. You won't be disappointed with the trip!

If you are going Pro I've used Moab Rafting and was extremely happy with them. I thought it was a great cross between value and service.
