My dad and I took a trip to Arches NP last weekend, just him and I without our families. We went down Friday night after work and got there at about midnight so we pulled of on the old highway and camped just inside a sign that says "No camping beyond this point".
Saturday morning we started the day off hiking to Delicate Arch.

Notice the clouds at delicate. on the way down we walked over to the petroglyphs and by then it was clear blue skies.

We then met the ranger for our guided tour throught the fiery furnace at noon.

We went throught the fiery furnace on the ranger guided tour because it was recommended not to try it alone if you haven't been through before on climb-utah.com. I am glad we did. I walked right past the skull and only saw it after the ranger stopped us. Definintely worth it the first time through to pay the extra $6 a person for the Ranger guided tour. The ranger knew what he was talking about and it was cool to learn about how the area was formed and different stuff about the plants, animals, and geography.
We got out of the furnace at about 3 pm. and made our way to Devils Garden.

I believe that if you go on the primitive trail you go through those fins somewhere

The view to the South East from Dark Angel. The La Sal mountains in the background with snow on them. In the middle of the picture you can see the Fiery Furnace.
Rain clouds started coming in from the east when we started back from Dark Angel.
As we were going back toward Double O Arch we ran into a young couple who had just come from the primitive trail and turned right toward Dark Angel instead of going left back to the parking lot. They were pretty much out of water so my dad gave them one of his gatorades and we showed them the way back. The way from double o arch to the main trail is a little tricky to find especially in the dark. Scary to think about what would have happened if they got caught in the rain. They didn't have any jackets, and it was almost dark. My dad and I had headlamps and coats so we were ok.
We got back to our camp at about 7 pm that night.
Sunday we wanted to do Ring Arch and the tunnel before going home and Im glad we did. We didnt see anyone else the whole hike. It was awesome. Ring arch is one of my favorite spots in the park now.

It was an awesome NP that I have never been to and that I plan on taking my family to in April. I am excited next trip I will have some extra time to explore the furnace. I wanted to thank Shane for putting the infor for Ring Arch and the Tunnel on climb-utah.com worth the $25 all on its own. Definitely an area that I recommend visiting soon!
