View Full Version : I just tossed my first real mtn bike in the trash...

It wasn't even worth giving away, 11 years & 13,000 miles later, its sitting outside, in the dumpster. I won my first race on it, road my first century on it, toured solo days on end, used is as a daily commuter for school and work for years. Guess I can't complain much, when all is said and done, it cost me less then a dime a mile to ride. Not a bad deal.

RIP :(

man that has SUCH lawn art potential....

i've got a welder, lets do it!

If only I had a lawn... :D

I stripped all the good parts off the bike a few years ago, this is what was left:

Very nice! When I finally get around to buying a new bike, I already have it narrowed down to Rocky Mountain and Santa Cruz. I do like the Superlight but also the Heckler. :cool2:

Wow, that's the new Heckler? I always thought of that as more of a downhill beast with the coil-over, but that must be the old style. You'll love riding Moab on that baby.

Congrats Joe on the superlite, that's a sweet bike! ...but throwin the old bike out?! You should hang that baby on your fridge! :haha:

Yer getting me all excited with your bike porn :lol8:

Very nice bics, I am looking to add another bike to the arsenal so you will have to give a update on the bike and the pros vs cons once you get a few miles one her!

holy sh*t, that brings a tear to my eye....

I have my '85 Schwinn High Sierra frame out in my backyard leaning agin the house, rusting away. It deserves a better home somewhere, but where? Maybe mounted on the wall in the living room next to the "Love at Home" relief society plaque my dear sister made for me? Or on the kitchen wall next to the lovely family portrait my mother hung for me? Or perhaps out on the front porch above the cute little Grizzley Bear with the Welcome sign that my last girlfriend thought would make my home a little warmer and friendlier?
Jeebus, "bigfoot" did the Slickrock Loop before suspension was ever invented...... :blahblah:

I guess my sentimentality has my heart really full right now.

Sandblast it and reuse it...simple. If its that sentimental spend the money and do it right. Ive kept frames until I found use for them but ...and appologize for this, but if you cant restore it...fish or cut bait :ne_nau:
