Not a shot of the sunset, but the result of a sunset:

Nice Rich :2thumbs:

Question for both Stan and Rich:
When you're out there getting ready to take that shot of the landscape, when people appear or are already there, is that irritating to you that they will be in your shot?

It can be annoying, depending on the shot. Some shots work as well with or without people, others just don't need someone in the scene. For those, I don't mind waiting, but I sometimes get irritated when some guy just hangs around in the scene, not doing anything but not moving. In some cases, I give up and take the shot, then photoshop the person out of the photo. There are some places you just can't expect to avoid people in the shot.

I just don't think people belong in those landscape shots. To me, people ruin shots like that. When I was at the top of Mt. Washington I can't tell you how long I had to wait, just to get my isolated side profile of the TipTop House. Waiting and waiting for these people to quit climbing all over the side of it :frustrated: Same with a few pics off the Kancmagus Highway. The Swift River at the Rocky Gorge Scenic Area. There is a little foot bridge that crosses the little gorge and I have pics year round of that gorge area. Getting the summer photo's of that area without people, I was getting ready to jump off that bridge :haha:

Well, getting married has mellowed me immensely. But the bottom line has always been this: it's everyone's land. We have to share it, and I prefer to share it kindly.

Here is my page showing the "Marklars" at Delicate Arch at sunset. Some of us quietly tolerate them, while others bark at them to move...

LOL :haha:
I just impatiently wait :lol8: for them to move. I don't yell or anything like that, just grit the teeth and wait :haha:

SOOOOOOOOOO, before you were married, were you a barker :lol8:

No, that's not really my style. I would get really mad, but I would internalize it. I think it was probably really bad for my molars, 'cause I would clinch them a lot.

Now when I'm tempted to get mad, I just imagine the smell of my wife's hair and it all goes away. It's a little like taking a tiny Valium! :2thumbs:

You could climb a mountain and have the mountain all to yourself. :naughty: Mountains with roads to the top always collect a lot of people, as do short easy trails such as to Delicate Arch.

Not when the people want to see the same thing you're photographing

From King of the Hill:

HANK: ...Every time you have a feeling, just stick it into a little pit inside your stomach and never let it out.
LUANNE (trying it): Are you supposed to have a pain under your rib?
HANK: Yes. That's natural. The body doesn't want to swallow its emotions. But now you go ahead and put that pain inside your stomach too.
