Ok I am just throwing this out there to see what kind of interest people have in this race. For those of you who may not have hear of 24hrs of Moab, there is a national 24hr racing serious and it finishes off here in Moab every year in October. You can ride it solo or you can ride it as a team, completing laps around the course (behind hole in the rock) and then switch off with your team members. I have been going down to this race for a few years and have always wanted to race in it. I believe we would need a team of 5 and was wondering if anyone is interested to race in this race? Maybe a team of UUTAH members.

I think it would be sweet. I am sure I could round up at least me and one other. Something to look into.. :2thumbs:

I did this race a few years ago - it's a blast. Not only is the trail great, the whole scene is awesome. My husband and I might be doing it again this year, his brothers may be coming in from CT to join us.

I rode this trail last April and decided that I would never do it again. There was a lot of deep sand. I started off of the highway about 12 mile out of town and then came down pritchett canyon and onto the same hiway as Amassaback. I enjoyed the drop off ledges in Pritchett canyon, but the sand was terrible I couldn't maintain mometum even on the downhill sandy sections. It seems like it was about 21 miles total.

13 mile trail is what they have planned for this year I belive, and it is more about the "scene" aroung the race that kicks ass, tons of camping, food booths, and of course representation of all the pro teams. I am sure that I could get a sponser from the Bike Shope in Ogden if we really want to get serious.

yeah, there was one kinda long section that was really sandy - a swooping long downhill that you absolutely needed to stay on the outside of and a few sand pits along the way. Also, I remember one nasty deep sandy up, that most people pushed - no need to waste precious energy trying to ride it. Being from MI, where we have lots of sandy trails, I may be more used to it, although I do detest riding in it. The rest of the trail I thought was really fun.
