Cute! A spud gun. Is this how you spend your weekend in the snow --- shooting potatoes at trees? :lol8:

Nice work man!! So how far does that thing shoot them spuds?

On average about 200 yards. And on that last shot, about 7 feet. :lol8:

They can be temperamental.

How is the sput shooter business going?

That last one just about killed me! The sound it made as it loafed out of the barrel... :roflol: :roflol: :roflol:

Did you guys run, like in the rocket launcher vid? :eek2:

:lol8: yeah, loaf is a good description.

It's caused by a number of factors, but usually it's not air tight enough. Sometimes it's from too much hairspray though, and not enough oxygen to get a big bang.

....waiting for those emails to roll in. :haha:

Ah, the Tater Dawg!!! We used to shoot them at jet-skiiers when we lived on the river. Great targets!

We used Aqua-Net hairspray for the propellant -- what do you guys use?

I heard about someone tried gasoline and blew the side of his face off ... is that urban legend?

Ahh, who knows. The thing about a potato gun is, the explosion will follow the path of least resistance, as with any gun.

If the fitting is screwed on loose, it will give way before the potato. This is the case with any kind of flammable substance.

One more thing about plastic fittings. People do not realize that it will shatter, not just crack. If the pressure is too much, it explodes and sends shards everywhere, it doesn't just create a leak somewhere.

Have you found a solvent to deal with the residues that accumulate in the gun -- especially the clean-out threads?

(Jeeze -- getting technical about a Tater Dawg!)

Just teflon tape. Keeps it slick.
