I have just come across something interesting about the history of Joseph Smith. When I try and do a search for Mormons to talk with, I either find links to find Mormons to date, or about Mormons going to hell. I thought I would check and see if any of you Mormons knew a high quality forum for Mormons to discuss religion.

Can you email me the info you have about JS? my email is davegurr@comcast.net
Thanks!

By high quality... do you mean a forum that keeps any negative comments about the religion off the forum, or a well moderated forum where actual debate and discussion take place?
This may be a good start: http://www.mormonapologetics.org/ , or depending what your looking for, you may want to visit http://www.exmormon.org/boards/w-agora/index.php?site=exmobb&bn=exmobb_recovery

Would you think that uutah were a great site if it were full of people arguing against hiking, camping, climbing, etc?
By high quality I mean a site with Mormons discussing doctrine and not trying to defend it.

A religion forum is somewhere around a billion times harder to moderate then a outdoor / sports forum. Having trolls and people against the religion is just a fact of life, and why the majority of forums have a 'no religion' rule.
The first link in my last post is probably what your looking for. Its run by FAIR: http://www.fairlds.org/
That said, I used to visit the RFM board and it too is quite stimulating. :)

Bring it up here. There are a few mormons and a few people interested in mormon history. What's the info?

Joe Gardner- FAIR does look like what I'm trying to find. Thanks

I'm hesitant to bring it up here, because I don't want to offend anyone and I know that some people on this site hate hearing about Mormons talk about themselves.
If you give me your email address, I can email it to you.
I also plan on making a post on FAIR about it.

If I were you, I would avoid that forum. It appears that there is a lot of spite and malice over there. (read the signatures from the first guy that responded to your post).
When it comes to issues of religion, either you believe, or you don't. You can argue your doctrine till yer blue in the face, but if people don't wanna believe, it's falling on deaf ears, and you're wasting your time. Furthermore, they will ridicule you for trying to convince them.

Thanks RockGremlin. I was just reading his signature and thinking the same thing.

It seems to me that charity and calmoriah are right - it should go in fellowship unless you want to debate it.
Also, I think that zakuska's sig is highlighting the disdain that other people who call themselves "True Christians" feel for Mormons. I don't think those are his/her feelings. :ne_nau:

I think you are probably right Cirrus. I think I just get really suspicious of so many people on religious websites because religion often is controversial.
GlockGuy-
Thanks, I'm going to check it out.

You know, I just made up those two URLs. Then, for kicks, I clicked "mormonporn.com" and it's an actual site. How utterly weird.

really? There is a mormonporn.com? I did just figure you made those up. On the name alone, I'm not going to go there but is it just what it sounds like? Or is it just a site with dirty images trying to make Mormons feel bad? Actually why would a Mormon go on that site in the first place? I really don't understand that website.

It's just a placeholder kind of page. One title page saying it's coming soon, and a "Click here to exit" link. That link takes one to a standard porn site.
Not that I know a "standard" porn site.
When I clicked on the first one, and it took me to an actual site, I figured the Rev had done his homework. Imagine my disappointment when I couldn't actually get to itchymormonunderwear.com :frustrated: Although I think I may now have a name if I ever decide to start a band...

I'm not disagreeing with what you called him :haha:, but I honestly can say I know he didn't mean any offense this time. Thanks though. It is nice to be able to ask a genuine question and not have to worry what everyone is going to say/think.

Did the Yahoo sites pan out? There are numerous others, but they seemed to be the most popular.

I had not noticed that you already responded. I actually just got back from snowshoeing and I've been putting stuff away and cleaning up the kitchen. I'll probably check them out later tonight.
But I honestly can't tell you how nice I think it is of you to actually take the time to find yahoo groups for me instead of just recommending it. That was well above and beyond. Thanks again.

you might find this article interesting ... many different bits of information, but the overarching stat is that as of 2004, Utah is now 62.4 percent LDS.

Regarding your first question, this account is mentioned in a Porter Rockwell biography as well.
As for LDS forums, every one of them will have their trolls too.
