View Full Version : February 19th - an important day in history

This day often falls on President's Day

It is also the anniversary of Ronald "Bon" Scott's death, former lead singer for AC/DC, in 1980.

But most importantly, it is somebody's birthday.

Do you know those people who try to mention that it's their birthday, somewhere in a casual phrase? Such as "I went to the Maverick today, and asked if they had a birthday discount". You know, some stupid method like that.

Well, I am not one of those people.

February 19th is my birthday, deal with it. I am.

I'm not going to fit it into some stupid topic like "How many calories does Birthday Cake have" "why?" "oh, just wondering, cuz it's my birthday".

I'm going to come right out into the blue and say it. That's the kind of guy I am.

Happy Birthday Beech

I cannot believe it's been 27 years! I was 12 when it happened - I remember it clearly. I also remember wondering - how in the world will AC/DC replace him and how will they sound. Well, they did a heck of a job :2thumbs:

Happy B-Day, Beech!

I remember very well when Bon died, 1980 was a dark year for rock-n-roll, Bon Scott in February, John Bonham died in September, John Lennon was murdered in December, and as an encore to 1980, fifteen months later Randy Rhoades was killed in March of 82.

You share your birthday with some notable folks, Copernicus, Lee Marvin,
Smokey Robinson, Margaux Hemingway, Seal, Tony Iommi, and most important of all, Falco!

C'mon, ROCK ME AMADEUS!

A Poem For Those Over 30 like 'Beech!
A computer was something on TV
From a science fiction show of note
A window was something you hated to clean
And ram was the cousin of a goat.

Meg was the name of my girlfriend
And gig was a job for the nights
Now they all mean different things
And that really mega bites.

An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
A curser used profanity
A keyboard was a piano.

Memory was something that you lost with age
A CD was a bank account
And if you had a 3 inch floppy
You hoped nobody found out.

Compress was something you did to the garbage
Not something you did to a file.
And if you unzipped anything in public
You'd be in jail for awhile.

Log on was adding wood to the fire
Hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived
And a back up happened to your commode.

Cut you did with a pocket knife.
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider's home
And a virus was the flu.

I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper
And the memory in my head
I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash
But when it happens, they'll wish they were dead.
