PS3 vs 360

Has anyone played both? My wife told me that if I sell my old junk (broken xboxes, dreamcast, etc.) I can buy a new game console but I can't decide which to get.

The 360 has the games for which I am more excited but the PS3 has the capabilities for better games and free online gaming.


What are your guys' thoughts?

P.S. I saw ps3 and 360 side by side with sonic the hedgehog on both of them and the PS3 looked considerably better. Every hard core 360 owner swears the 360 graphics are better but with blu-ray vs normal DVDs it just doesn't seem likely.

I don't know much about gaming, but I did read an article that mentioned graphic quality is dependant on the system the game was originally written for. In other words.... a games graphics can only be optimized for one system. And after understanding how Sony operates with it's priority systems I believe this to be true.

I know this was a big deal with the old Xbox and games originally written for PS2.

That really is a simple explanation of why graphics would look better on a specific system for one game and not another.

After some recent research I think I'm leaning more towards the 360.

It probably sounds geeky, but I really want to play the Star Trek game on 360 as well.
