Technical Question
A friend just gave me a home made DVD it's a slide show with music from a recent hike. It contains two files Audio and Video. Can I upload files like this to Utube Or they have to be concerted to a different format and what do i use to do this.
Thanks in Advance
I never had a problem uploading anything to YouTube unless it went over their allotted size. (Videos are limited to 10 minutes (unless you're a Director) and 100 MB.)
Store those vids somewhere on your computer and then go hit YouTube to download them. I bet there won't be a problem, unless it becomes a MB issue. It's worth the shot  And if by some chance it won't accept that format, then you can change it.

Ok but when the Audio and Video are in two different files how do you get it to accept both at once.

No that won't work. You can only upload video on youtube. But I would be surprised if your computer did not come with some sort of software (like windows movie maker) to create a video slide show. Once you do that, you'll be able to upload it to youtube.
Let me know if you need any help. I can walk you through the whole thing (even if we need to download free video software).

Is it an actual DVD - as opposed to files burned onto a DVD? In other words, will it play in a DVD player? Are the files in a .vob format?
For this you would have to "rip" the dvd into .mpg (most commonly, from DVD) format. The only way to do that - simply - is with special software. I always just use Pinnacle Studio, which is what I do all my video editing in. Unfortunately, for free software, you end up finding some pretty dodgy programs and sites - they're often used for pirating.
Wish I could help - hope someone has a suggestion!

Oops :haha: I don't think YouTube can do that, it has to have everything together.
If you're running Windows XP you probably have Windows Movie Maker (WMM). DiscGolf also stated the use of WMM.
I saw your movies you posted before, so you do have the software to do it. I'm guessing it is WMM.

For that I use Neo, that's what came with my computer :haha:
He still maybe able to download the entire movie into WMM and just save it from there into his PC. I don't know what he has tried.

It contains two files Audio and Video.
You may have to use a program to turn this into a .mpg or .wmv file. I'm not sure if Windows Movie Maker will do this, but you can try to import it into that program.
