Hello, newbie here from SoCal, planing a trip to Hurricane second week of April and need help. Do not want to miss the "must do" trails, got maps for Gooseberry and Hurricane Loop/JEM, any other suggestions for long XC trails?? I also really want to do Thunder Mountain/Red Canyon but it might be under snow in mid April??? Thanks in advance for you info.

how long of a trail are you looking at? An all day trail?
The Hurricane/JEM/Gould's Rim is a decent sized loop for an all day trip, but you already mentioned this.
Maybe you can look into the Prospector Trail, where it ties into Church Rocks.

That's only 14 miles though.
You could also spend all day out at Gooseberry Mesa.

Thanks for the suggestion sombeech, what is the freeway exit to get to the Prospector trail head? We will be driving west from Hurricane to I-15 freeway.

Let's see, from Hurricane... First of all, I've never been to the Prospector TrailHead, but I have been on the Church Rocks loop that ties in with the trail.
So, I'll just copy the directions here:
[quote=UMB"]Take the Leeds exit from I-15. If you're going southbound, drive through Leeds to reach the northbound I-15 Leeds exit. Go south from the southbound I-15 exit 1.8 miles. Turn left on a narrow paved road and go under the freeway. At mile 2.4 (about 0.5 from the turn), there's a trailhead on the left side of the road, with a tiny pullout. GPS N 37
