Give me some critique, please. Which shots are absolute trash, which are good, and which could have some potential with the right touch?
I will use some of these shots within the next two weeks. I also plan on putting the actual helmetcam in the place of the camcorder, but I need one more part for that.

Those different angles would really spruce up a biking video. Throw some of those different angles in with your main footage and that would make for some good watchin'.

Oh, by the way I think all of those angles would supplement your video nicely, so I didn't vote. Your getting pretty damn clever with that thing.

That first shot reminds me of riding my Big Wheel up and down the street. :cool2:

That is a cool setup Sombeech...where did you get it (or did you build it)? I think the rear-shot (stable wheel) would look really awesome with another rider back there. Wonder how it would be on a more bumpy trail?
How you seen the flick "Roam" by the collective yet? There is a great sequence where they mounted a camera over the front wheel looking back at the rider - similar to your bar mount - but farther forward with a wide angle to see the bars. I want to try it sometime. Check out "Roam" if you haven't seen it.

Here is the website: http://www.thecollectivefilm.com/roam/index_roam.html
They have a teaser - but it doesn't have the shot I'm talking about. Most bike shops will sell the actual DVD - I watch mine all the time.

They are all great BUT you have a serious white balance problem with that camera.
It is set on auto, you need to set it to manual and balance it with a 19% grey card.
Or at least put on an ND filter.

yeah, I've been trying to figure that out for a couple of days. Time to go to the instruction manual.

so how well does that type of mount work on the handlebars pointed forwards, as opposed to mounted on a helmet?

At least it's pointing up, and not straight back from the handlebars. :puke8:

Sombeech check out www.goprocamera.com - the Digital Hero 3 - I saw them at the Outdoor Retailer show. It looks pretty cool for a cam solution.

Sombeech - here is the segment from Roam I was talking about. Just right-click the link to save the file - it is about 26 sec long.

Having the camera hanging over the rear tire will eventually throw something up into the lens, having a filter on there will protect that lens. It's much cheaper to replace a filter :haha:
I know when you using ye ole 35mm SLR film camera, the grey card could be used for people manually setting their cameras to the light settings. I thought when using digital SLR's, the grey card was out and the white card was in for that. I know when I took the photography courses through work, they handed us cards that were grey on one side and white on the other; digital gets the white and film gets the grey. Is this different for digital camcorders?

I can't tell if your camera is tougher than mine, or if you are braver with your electronics than I am, but I think this is awesome!

Hey, that's a pretty cool shot. I'll have to see if I can fabricate an extension arm to get out in front like that.
