Emma Faust Tillman, born near Greensboro, North Carolina, on November 22, 1892, became the world's oldest person on Wednesday, following the death of Emiliano Mercado del Toro, of Puerto Rico

that really is incredible. the range of history she has seen is remarkable. she saw many territories become states. the womens suffrage movement. moving pictures go from silent to talkies to gonzo special effects. 2 world wars and numerous other conflicts. prohibition. the equal rights movement. television. automobiles replace horses. the phonograph to 8 track to cassette to cd. the eradication of many killer illnesses thru the magic of immunizations. the telephone. computers. refrigeration. central heat and air. if i live to be 100 i wonder what the range of history i get to experience will be like ? i can't help but think it will pale in comparison to this rare woman. she has been priveledged to see a golden era in social and technological change. i wonder if such a one will come again. and what might that be like ?!?

goofball, your so right. It's sad anytime you hear of people like this that pass. I'd love to sit and talk with them and hear their stories. I try to talk to my grandma and all I get is how she went to lunch last week with her sister who's been dead for 20 years.
