View Full Version : How Did You Pick Your User Name?
DiscGo

I really don't understand some of the user names on this site, or even how to pronounce them (accadacca). Anyway I thought it would be fun to have a thread explaining user name and why they were chosen.
DiscGolfDiver: When I was signing up on Geocaching.com my normal user name was taken so I just made that up because I enjoy DiscGolf and Diving. At the time I didn't realize I would get so in to geocaching so I didn't know how much I would use that name.
DiscGolfDiver"s": My wife felt left out because we do so many of our activities together, so I added the "s" to include her. She has never made a post on this site.

Savanna is the name I had picked out for a daughter if I'd had one. (And yes, I know the city's name is spelled Savannah) :haha: The 3313 comes from my old business address back in New Orleans. 3 was always my lucky number.
Hence: Savanna3313

I'd hate to hear what the State had to say about one of my client's last name. No lie, the man's last name was Dikshit. :ne_nau:
Back in the day of regular nintendo you could only put in 3 letters for high score names, meant for your initials i assume. One day I randomly put in "jax" and started putting that for all my nintendo stuff. When X box came out I my brother in law was entering my name and decided that an extra "x" would make it cooler. So that is how I got Jaxx. Now my brother in laws all call me Jaxx. Boring, but true.

That is way cool. My wife's maiden name was Dutch. Her last name was "Griffioen". I would say you win as far as Dutch last names go. I guess I can't say too much, my last name is Burt. I can't tell you how many "Bert and Ernie" jokes I have heard over the years.

BrainDamage

I pick my username BrainDamage because I crashed hard in a desert race in 2003, that crash resulted in a concussion (that makes 5 total from motorcycle racing) , a hemorrhage and a contusion on my brain. I was in such a serious condition that I had to be life flighted to University of Utah Hospital. I spent a 2-days in the neural ICU and 3-days in a hospital room under watch. I've used this name on a motorcycle website and my friends got a kick out of it so I just kept it.

TreeHugger
01-24-2007, 01:39 PM
Believe it or not, Treehugger was not originally connected to any kind of environmentalist philosophy - it came from a group that I used to mountain bike with - they were big on nicknames. The very first ride I did with them was in Slatyfork - it was snowy and twice I found myself wrapped around a tree trunk... thus the name TreeHugger.

Absolutely nothing. I like the name. I'm just chapped that he stole Moabfool. He knew I had the name and he used it, that's all. The truth be told, I spend way more time in the Zion/Hurricane area than I do in Moab, but Moab used to be where I'd go whenever I had a free Saturday. Moab, Zion; Zion, Moab. It's all great fun. I think it might even be time to discover the area in between.

Before I ever became obsessed with this thing we call the dubya dubya dubya, I was playing Halo. When I was thinking of a name, the movie "Raising Arizona" came to mind.
When Nicholas Cage was robbing a store, and his wife hadn't planned on it, she called him a "Sumbitch". I wanted to alter it a little, get the drawn out "o" sound, and make it a little less vulgar.
Also, I was being called an S.O.B. when I was playing Halo, so it stuck. And this is the same username I use on all 63 forums I'm a member on, unless they force me to use my email address as my name.
Edit: ...and the Spam thing? Well, when we first started this uutah party, I started "recruiting". I have long since stopped, because it really annoys people, and I sympathize with them. But I am always seen as a spammer even though I haven't done it for @2 years.

I have a mole on my chin, when I was like 14 I went on a week long trip for scouts and my mole grew some gross, long, black hairs (I of course couldn't grow any other facial hair yet to blend in with it). Looked like Shaggy's scruff. My scout leader started calling me Shaggy and the name stuck.

Back in 1923 my father's father was taking a load of produce from Berlin (NJ) to Philly when a neighbor who had just gotten a truck drove into the back of the wagon and knocked my grandfather to the ground breaking his neck and killing him. My grandmother sold the farm and bought a house in Erial where she raised her seven kids. I never actually lived there myself, but I've always enjoyed visiting although the town no longer has the same out in the country feel that it did years ago.
REDFOX
01-25-2007, 08:57 PM
My biking friends gave me the nick name of Porn star, because of the components that were on my mountain bike. Risse racing trixxxey fork with triple X's, SDG Big Boy Kevlar seat, Atomic Lab Trail pimp pedals, Azonic Hammer stem with the Chubby handle bars. All of these products are legitimate brands and models which I still have on another bike. After dealing with a lot of questions and my wife becoming suspicious of the name, I asked my friends for a new name. They came up with REDFOX because I seemed to wear mostly red colored FOX jerseys and shorts. REDFOX seems to be a more socially acceptable nickname that I have had for about 8 years.

Back in the day of some mountain biking at the Sand Flats Recreation area, several carloads of us were paying our fee at the booth. We all had those Motorola Talkabout radios and my friend decided that as I was talking to the lady taking our money, he would defile all that was and was not holy about a dog. I couldn't get to the radio in time to save face, so the incident stuck. I modified it a bit so as to not be so vulgar. "Scrog-my-dog" just doesn't carry a family friendly connotation. :ne_nau:
And I haven't seen anyone else with anything that resembles it. Ogio came closest with the introduction of the new "Shling" golf bag carry system, but I'm not worried. I was here first. :bootyshake:

04-04-2008, 11:32 AM
I was originally QuenteK25 on this forum and every other one I go to but changed it because people I met in real life or who saw it as my email address (still is) slaughtered the pronunciation, which is to be expected.
Quente = Portuguese word that is pronounced almost identically to my name Kent. When I was in Portugal people would ask me what my first name was. I would tell them "Kent" and they would assume I was saying "quente" and think I was just joking (it means hot). Then they'd ask again, and I'd have to pull out ID to prove it.
The K25 was from Kent and my lucky number 25.
After having tons of people mispronounce it I decided to just make it easier.
Hence Kent K25
Deathcricket
04-04-2008, 01:03 PM
Wayyyy back in the days of dialup, around 1998. I used to play this video game called Starcraft. I was testing out different races and combo's and this one guy yelled at me "the only reason you win is because you have those crickets of death, you cheated". Obviously he didn't realize they were the weakest unit in the game. Poor players often times turn to insults. But I really liked the zerglings and named them my "crickets of death", my main strat though was to build hydralisks and ultralisks out the wazzoo since they are ranged and can take out air units. But zerglings are hands down the cutest guys in the game (see pic below).
Anyways "crickets of death" kinda appealed to me. I played as that for a bit then changed to "deathcricket". Then later on, any game I would play, it would follow me. I was "deathcricket noisebringer" in dark ages of camelot. Dirk Deathcricket in anarcy online, etc etc. Then my wife turned nerdly and she went by "angel cricket". So we made a deadly duo. I feel my name matches my style of play. I tend to pick the smallest unassuming character I can find. My armor never matches, i will go out of my way to look goofy. For instance in warhammer online, my orc found a deer antler helmet that he wore all the time. in everquest i played a female dwarf with a beard. In world of warcraft i played a gnome with green hair. So people tend to underestimate me, and it's always seems to work to my favor. I may look like a retard, but turn your back on me and your dead. :P
Also it's just sexy being 3 foot tall and standing next to my wife's 7 foot amazon.

Lord Of All Humans
Because you will all bow to me, in the end. Okay, not really.
:haha:
There's a twisted guy out there named Jhonen Vasquez who created a funny little animated series called Invader Zim. It was a Nickelodeon produced show, but it really should've been on a different station to attract the true target audience. Most of the humor is not aimed at children.
I really liked that show and in one of the episodes, Zim (the alien invader bent on ruling Earth) declared himself Lord of all humans, and for some reason, it stuck out in my mind.
The first time I used it as a handle was when I started playing an online game. I don't really know why it stuck out, but it did and from then on, I was Lord Of All Humans!!! on Counter Strike: Source for awhile.
I had a brief stint with BF2 and such, but only really got into CS:S.
That being said, I'm pretty glad I got away from the gamer thing. Fun and all, but waaaay too much time inside, doing nothing.
Now my online addictions (mostly) have been replaced with fishing and that's helped to get me out into the wild again.
I use a few other handles on other sites and nobody really knows that( ), but I rarely post on those sites, for now.
