Back from the Andes. :naughty: Someone said I should post some of my photos, but since they don't pertain to Utah, I guess I'll post them in general. Anyway, here are some of my photos. You can click on any for full size.

Wow! Those pictures are amazing! I'm really surprised that it looks so cold. I know that it is Summer for most of South America. I guess I don't really understand what happens with Ecuador's climate with them being on the equator. Is it not Winter there as well?

How long did you plan this trip? Sorry if I am asking too many questions but I'm seeing these pictures and my mind is just racing with excitement. It just looks awesome!

It's all about ELEVATION. Ecuador's capitol city (Quito) sits at 9200 feet in elevation. Quito is knicknamed the "city of eternal spring," because their temps stay pretty mild all year. It does get chilly there, especially in the morning, and it gets snow at times.

I think the average elevation of the Andes is around 11,500 - 12,000 feet.

That is crazy. I was a missionary in Chile and got to do some hiking in the Andes but so much of Chile is near the coast that the highest elevation I ever went in Chile was about 4000 ft. I had no idea that Ecuador got so high.

Chimborazo 20,703 feet

Cotopaxi 19,347 feet

Cayambe 19,126 feet

Antisana 18,891 feet

How much would a trip like you took cost per person?

Did you have a guide? If not, how did you find your way?

What was the highest altitude that you reached?

Where did you stay/camp? How many days did you actually need to camp?
