That was my thought as well when I saw the photo (that it looked like it could be Shane), but to be perfectly honest, I don't know who it is. A friend sent it to me over the weekend.

There's actually a place out in the west desert that is a popular snorkling spot. I think it's called Blue Lake or something like that. The water is warm year-round. I think it's just south of Wendover, close to the state line.

Never been there myself, but I've heard about it. Anyone wanna back me up on this?

I thought it was going to be this place

Went there a few years ago first time scuba diving, it was alot of fun we went in the fall so it was a little chilly but the water was warm. Petting and feeding the sharks was AWESOME!!!

Blue Lake was one of my options for my open water test when I got SCUBA certified. From what I hear if you get there in the morning it's pretty good diving, but once a bunch of people get in there, silt gets kicked up and the visibility is nill. I ended up doing half of it at bear lake and the other half at The Crater in Homestead. Seabase is really cool too. But after going to Belize for a week, all of it is pitiful. LOL

Is the Crater worth paying for? We were supposed to get certified there but got a last minute sweet deal on a Catalina boat trip and just did it there instead. I have scuba dived in California, the Caribbean and Alaska (Alaska sucked for visibility) but I have never dived (outside of a swimming pool) here in Utah.

Hmmmm...It's like diving in a big hot tub. Low vis, but there's not much to see anyhoo. Probably worth doing once. :)

It of course can't compare with real diving.

I scuba certified at Blue Lake many moons ago. It in February and I had a 7mil Farmer John wets suit and still froze my ass off. So I can only imagine what it would be like skinny-dipping in January. :cold:

Here are some scanned photos of Blue Lake.
