Heather and I hit Meadow once a month or so. The last time we went it was -14 when we got out... Burrrrr! :D

5th water / Diamond Fork is one of my favorite springs, I love going up there in the fall and winter. Such an amazing location, and the short hike keeps out a lot of the trouble makers.

Where abouts is 12 mile hot springs?

Here are all the Utah hot springs in which we have soaked in order from fav to least fav.

Diamond Fork
Meadow
Baker
Crater Hot Spring "commercial homestead resort"
Ogden "can only soak way Early Am to avoid riff raff"
Inlet springs "can only soak way Early to avoid riff raff"
hobo springs "behind SLC museum, soak after dark am"
Wilson "way out in west desert didn't actually soak"
Indian springs by Corrinne "also know as stinking springs, i couldn't do it"
Lincoln point "south end Utah lake, was nasty, but interesting"

Warm springs we have soaked
Gandy "Awesome + under water cave" will post pictures
Blue lakes "Awesome snorkeling, must go on weekday"
Bonneville sea base "commercial"
Coyote springs "Tule Valley, within the house range anyone know where this is?, we went once! middle of know where!!!"
Horseshoe springs "fun to snorkel, huge fish"

I tried finding the midway ones several times with no luck=( i did find one but some housing had moved in ontop of it and there was a bunch of straw "hay" in the water NASTY i didn't soak.

Wow! That's cool! I didn't know such things existed in Utah. Speaking of Yellowstone-type stuff in Utah, does anyone know about a geyser in Woodside? I stopped at Woodside about a month ago, and happened to notice what appeared to be a Yellowstone-like geyser spewing water about 5-6 feet into the air. It was set back from the road about 300 feet, and on private property, so I couldn't get a closer look.

Anyone heard of that?

Here's the Sumbean HS near Stanley, ID. (There's quite a few near Stanley and Ketchum.)

I like the Maple Grove Hot Springs near Grace, ID. It's a privately owned one but $5 for all day soaking, you can ski up behind their place in national forest and there's a pool house for heating up some lunch. Right on the Onieda Narrows Reservoir. About 1 hour from Logan.

Nice pic Johnlithon!

It's a drilled well/cold water/Co2 geyser similar to Crystal geyser.

Sorry to resurrect, but is it possible to make a weeknight trip to any hotsprings from SLC.

Would someone PM me directions, etc of their favorite?

Thanks guys. :2thumbs:

The two best springs in the state are about a six hour round trip from SLC.

Meadow: 2hr drive there, 2hr dip, 2hr back
Fifth water: 1hr drive, 1hr hike, 2hr dip, 1 hr hike, 1hr drive back.

Those times are fast driving and fast hiking. Without traffic and without stopping, I have made it to Meadow in like 2 hrs 10 min. But that's doing about eighty on a Sunday morning.

The hike from three forks to the springs is 2.25 miles one way. If there is no snow or its packed down that should be no problem for you to cover that distance in one hour.

I haven't been to Fifth water for a couple of years now, but a good friend of mine went there last winter and said there was some major erosion at the trailhead. Apparently the parking lot and footbridge was wiped out in the runoff of '05. No there is no parking for about 1/2mile up or down the road from the Three Forks Trailhead. In fact my friend tried to turn around (three-point turn) and one tire slid off the road and he was stuck. Someone with a winch pulled him out.

Anyone with current conditions of the road or trail?

You could try Hobo Springs by the capitol. But more than likely you will run into naked homeless people or naked hippies (and not the nice kind).

I would have picked fifth water as well...my personal fav, but last time I was there I drove across the creek and parked on the opposite side...high clearance 4x4, but I am planning on camping at diamond fk. this summer so that's about the soonest Id find out. Never been to Meadow although Id love to go if I had a guide :haha:
