I don't know how many of you guys are following this, but they just found one of the climbers dead in a snow cave. Sad deal, but what the hell do they expect when they choose to climb a peak like that in the dead of the winter? The odds of the weather or something else going wrong is multiplyed this time of the season. I don't quite get the mentality behind it.

Some points I learned:

They had a great weather window for their climb, barring a tragic accident.

They were experienced, and reasonably prepared.

North face Hood is safer to climb in winter.

Shit happens.

That's about it, there just isn't much to know at this point, and unless there is an amazing survival story yet to come, it's unlikely we will ever really know what happened up there.
